I think there should be trained, professional officers with loaded guns inside of a school but the teachers do not need them.

 @7NZCYZDLibertarian from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, they should be allowed, but never required. Schools should aslo hire professional security.

 @96F8GNM from Missouri  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, and the reason why I'm saying this just in case an school shooter came inside the school and the teacher had to protect the school or the class

 @8WVP25X from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

this should be a district by district decision but it should require proper protocols/ have a plan

 @8SGS3LL from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SCFMCYLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SC92XN from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if the teacher has shown responsibility, and has expert training, as in law enforcement, ex military, or recreational professional training, and is psychologically ready to carry a gun.

 @8S9ZC2VLibertarian from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

it would be nice for a teacher to be allowed to carry with the proper training and safety

 @8RVH38R from Illinois  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8RPVHBN from Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

they should remove the gun free sign from schools because 97% mass shootings happen in gun free zones

 @8R73BFFLibertarian from Louisiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Only properly trained teachers should be allowed to carry a gun in schools. this training is not easy and it must be kept up and that is unrealistic. Conceal carry class does not qualify as proper training.

 @8QXRSZD from Ohio  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes but they should be required to have a licence for carry within a school

 @8QSGN5D from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

This should be allowed based on the discretion and training of the teacher. If they own certifications that allow them to do so, then let them.

 @8QJWFKXfrom Maine  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Q5ZW8T from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should be able to carry at their own will but any regulations on firearms in school should be decided at a state or local level, not federal

 @8Q4XLQZ from Arizona  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should be allowed to conceal carry if they wish to but should never be able to open carry or use it on students.

 @8PXZ83K from Minnesota  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they need to be very well trained and have very strict background checks ran

 @8PTT5C8 from South Dakota  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, only if it is in a closet or not on them while teaching and only if someone gets in

 @8PM75KS from California  answered…4yrs4Y

Guards would be ideal, but if they lack the budget and the teacher has experience with a firearm and can pass a firearm test, then she can have the option of putting it in a lockbox. Guards would be ideal.

 @8PKYF8R from West Virginia  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, have the teacher be extensively trained in gun use and firearms, also try to get a teacher who has been in some form of military combat. It would only increase their knowledge of handling and use of the firearm.

 @8PCJ3LJ from Florida  answered…4yrs4Y

Only if the teacher is properly trained with a firearm and is not mentally ill or a convicted felon.

 @8P6LKJ2Constitution from South Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8P26QSX from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8P232JLLibertarian from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

no, hire a professionally trained security guard, this would give the opportunity for more private security companies and they can offer more jobs to veterans.

 @Nickdog99Libertarian from Georgia  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if the teacher is trained to use a weapon they should be able to bring said weapon.

 @8NDF52SLibertarian from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NCR2YH from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8N8T9F7 from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers with firearm safety and hours of firearm training as well as extensive background checks should be allowed to carry a handgun at most.

 @8N5THNY from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

if you have a license to carry and after many background checks then, I feel this will prevent school murders.

 @8N548W9 from Oregon  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, teachers who have been trained in gun usage and safety should carry.

 @8N4NGV9 from Missouri  answered…5yrs5Y

Lets just build a armory in every shool, and the people who pass a firearms test can get to use the weapons in the armory

 @8N2WHPX from Georgia  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8MZWFTZLibertarian from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, only if teachers are comfortable enough to carry. Otherwise, hire an appropriate amount of security guards in addition to that.

 @8MSK8FQ from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Increase prevention to the problem instead of solutions; stand against bullying and give lesser-abled kids more facilities.

 @8MQ2CBX from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

yes but they should only be able to see it when there is a school shooting or in self-defense and they should keep it in a safe space away from the students

 @8M62M4Z from Virginia  answered…5yrs5Y

If in a public school, yes if the teachers are given proper training and certification. If in a private school, yes if the school itself allows for it.

 @8LYQPR3Libertarian from Michigan  answered…5yrs5Y

Schools should be able to decide after discussion with parents if a teacher should carry or to hire a security guard

 @8M4C6BG from Minnesota  answered…5yrs5Y

Open security jobs in school for Veterans who can’t find work. They’d love the job of protecting children.

 @8LPL3FW from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8LL33JD from Kansas  answered…5yrs5Y

I think at least one teacher should be allowed a gun after having a strict background check, psychological testing, training, and annual follow ups to make sure the teacher(s) is still good to have a gun. It should also be locked in a safe where only responsible faculty have the combination

 @8LK2R39 from Pennsylvania  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but I believe that teachers should have an option to and if they want to they must go to 3 months or more of mandatory training and should be background checked and tested to see if they know firearm safety.

 @8LHKX8T from Iowa  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, "gun free zones" only create soft/easy targets. Teachers who chose to carry should be required to conceal carry and receive annual training to insure effectiveness. 'Security forces' at schools should be armed and trained in urban warfare.

 @8LG9G8F from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, trained and qualified gun-owning teachers should be able to arm themselves at school

 @8LBPMN2Independent from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8LBP8Y2 from Wisconsin  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, so long as they can provide proof of proper training to handle the firearm.

 @8KRMHPH from Missouri  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if the teacher is properly trained and allowed a firearm. And the gun stays some where were it is easily accessible but not on their hip or in arms reach of them. And don't tell students who has the gun

 @8KR6XWM from New Mexico  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KQGYQF from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

If it is a public school no, if it is a private school then it is up to the administration of that private school.

 @8KNPSM2 from New York  answered…5yrs5Y

School districts that feel they need armed police SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE officers assigned to the building

 @8KNNQ95Libertarianfrom Maine  answered…5yrs5Y

This should be completely up to the school as to whether they allow it.

 @8KM3NG4 from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KL2XPV from Idaho  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KK7JV3 from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8JWN3H2 from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, teachers should be allowed only if they want to but shouldn’t be enforced. However security guards should have to conceal a fire arm.

 @8JPQ8RDIndependent from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but they must pass a stricter concealed carry training, and keep it on their person at all times.

 @8JJZHWY from Alabama  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8JBTRNY from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

There are men and woman who served their country looking for a chance to continue that service at home. Veterans could answer the call for protection of our nations youth. A private security firm could offer QRF (quick reaction forces) for schools. A dmall twam could be housed near the site. Then response times are cut down and lives are saved until Law enforcement agencies are on site. The school could even run drills with the QRF team, faculty, and students to ensure all parties involved are in the same page.

 @8J6K2D7 from Georgia  answered…5yrs5Y

Let the local governments decide whether to have armed guards, police officers, or armed teachers.

 @8HJQN3P from Florida  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8G64XVCIndependent from Tennessee  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8DKV526Women’s Equality from Arizona  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, however a professional carrying a firearm should go through an EXTENSIVE training program and pass multiple field exercises and have a psych evaluation to protect the students.

 @8DBBY8Y from Illinois  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers can choose between being armed and not being armed. The gun next leaves the classroom and it is with a password protected safe or dial along with armed security.

 @8D7Q6BQ from Ohio  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8CW23S4 from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes but they should be required to keep them locked when in the class room and security should be allowed to carry fire arms after proper training.

 @8CTRJQNLibertarian from Tennessee  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8CQ6P7D from Connecticut  answered…5yrs5Y

I think if they were trained they should be able to carry and they have no criminal history.

 @8QL4LGN from North Dakota  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, teachers should have the option, but it shouldn't be required for them.

 @8LL8T99 from Tennessee  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8KJ5J9D from California  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers should have the option of taking firearm training as professional development, complete with CEU's. Only after they have done so and had a thorough psychological evaluation, should they be allowed to openly carry.
