I think that it would depend on the job and what chain of work someone is in and what business. I think that if someone is waitressing or working in a trade then the minimum wage should be increased. But if someone is working in a boutique or is a hostess, I think the minimum wage is fine as it is.

 @B5XCFW6 from Alabama  answered…2wks2W

Yes, but adjust it regionally based on cost of living, and offer wage support through tax credits or public programs instead of placing the full burden on small businesses. Include safeguards to avoid runaway inflation, and allow for special youth/training wages for first-time workers.

 @B4MMPKG  from Alabama  answered…3mos3MO

Yes due to wealth gap and Americans can no longer reasonable afford the American dream. Also there are too many people with too many money problems bc they don’t make enough to outgrow the cycle of minimum wage. We have to treat poverty as an ailment or a symptom of something gone wrong in our society and not blame the people in that situation. Plus the super wealthy have way too much, and can leave our country with it at any time if they don’t like they way something is going. They have all that money and don’t care about us. So be stricter on them maybe they’ll leave and the Americans who actually care about their fellows can rise up instead.

 @B2BRJVJ from Alabama  answered…6mos6MO

Yes, because some people were forced out of school because of family reason and more. Therefore the couldn't finish school and go off to college to get a better job.

 @9ZN7S3P from Alabama  answered…8mos8MO

No, because some states have higher cost of living than others so it should be up to the states with a federal minimun set that they can't go under.

 @9ZC5P7P from Alabama  answered…8mos8MO

Figure out an equation that state's would be beholden to as a state minimum wage. A federal minimum wage can't be a specific number. It must be an equation to an account for the drastic cost of living differences between states like California and Alabama.

 @9XT4KDB from Alabama  answered…8mos8MO

No, because that will only make things worse in the long term for the people it would benefit in the short term, but there should be better ways of helping people in poverty.

 @9TRGBRSIndependent from Alabama  answered…10mos10MO

The federal minimum wage should increase at the same rate that wages for executives have increased since the year 1978. The disparity between the rate at which executive pay scales have increased versus minimum wage has increased is shameful. Executives making fortunes on the labor of those they pay a barely livable wage is morally criminal, and should be punishable by the citizen population.

 @9STDYXFLibertarian from Alabama  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but only enough to cover inflation since the last time it was raised and reassess every 10 years.

 @9SPYR8TGreen from Alabama  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, as long as large corporations insist on paying minimal wages for essential services and suppressing labor bargaining power. If it wasn’t so damn necessary to even the playing field, I’d be against minimum wages.

 @9RDPYMS  from Alabama  answered…12mos12MO

Yes, but not nation wide. Rural communities that don’t have higher costs of living are hurt by their small businesses paying higher wages.

 @9NPFHMM from Alabama  answered…1yr1Y

yes adjust every year according to inflation and actually make it a living wage. also fixing the inflation would keep prices from increasing, theres absolutely no reason for everything to be so expensive

 @9KTYH25Libertarian from Alabama  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, and adjust for inflation yearly. But not to the degree which is currently being discussed. Current minimum wage should be $12.50.

 @9K3D7VMRepublican from Alabama  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but should be decided at a state and county/parish level. That should not be determined by the U.S government

 @9K22P6D from Alabama  answered…1yr1Y

No, make the minimum wage for each employee be a certain percentage of the CEOs income so if the CEO wants a pay raise the enployees must get one as well

 @9JF8QR8 from Alabama  answered…1yr1Y

Depending on the job and how hard the job is. Pay should be judged by how much a person works and how hard they work.

 @9D6V4WXRepublican  from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and adjust it every year according to inflation. Set the standard workweek to 32 hours with overtime starting not just after 32 hours of work, but also starting after being at work for 8 hours on any workday.

 @9H9GT8Y from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

No, minimum wage jobs are just for teens who are not supporting a family and if you raise the minimum wage all the prices of things will go up

 @9GX77MD from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

Minimum Wage should be the minimum you need to survive, the problem with this is not the wage but the economy that surrounds the wage.

 @9GMMDW4 from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes because since their making everything VERY expensive let people be above the poverty line instead of wondering if they are gonna become homeless EVERY DAY

 @9GGCFDJ from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

I think they should but increase it by how much you work each day week and month and mostly every year.

 @9FWKBRN from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes and No, I think if someone is pursuing the job in the long run, it should be a living wage. However, if the person is doing it part-time, or for a shorter amount of time, it shouldn't be adjusted. People like highschoolers (assuming they live with their family and aren't in a critical situation) shouldn't need overly high wages.

 @9FPZ94W from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9FMNVM7 from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

This should be based on how much the federal agents have to work. If they have to come in on off days and through all hours of the day then yes, they should increase federal minimum wage.

 @9FLKD8Y from Alabama  answered…2yrs2Y

I think inflation should be more under control before the living wages change but it should be more at some point.

Let states decide state-wide minimum wage, and furthermore, let counties place their own minimum wage as long as it abides by state's ruling.

 @96XBK9P from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but only if corporate taxes are lowered so companies have the extra money to pay their employees.

 @96ST7GWLibertarian from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Minimum wage was never designed to support families companies need to wake the hell up and realize their profits have sky rocketed while wages are stagnate. It’s just supply and demand minimum wage is what teenagers make and then as skills are acquired wages reflect that.

 @96GG95RWomen’s Equality from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and No. Although it will increase prices, I believe minimum wage should be raised at most to $10 in most states who have minimum wage lower than that.

 @96BL5SL from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @964HMNV from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Eliminate minimum wage, but fine/tax those employers if their employees require any government assistance.

Yes but lower the corporate tax rate so companies can afford to pay their employees more.

 @947HMH8 from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

The minimum wage should vary by location. The cost of living in California is way higher than rural Mississippi.

 @9478K7N from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @946KR43 from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

The minimum wage should be tied to that area's cost of living and should not be a political issue.

 @945C8RS from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93R2WTS from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

No, and I was already satisfied with the amount of the federal minimum wage before Biden adjusted it. Also one of the other reasons why inflation is an issue in this country.

 @93QSJZV from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9377HCF from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @935PYGP from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

There should not be a federal minimum wage, it needs to be handled on a state level

 @933DJMN from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92Z5J9K from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Only if they are going to increase the taxes on the rich/wealthy so others don't have to pay for it.

 @92S6K77 from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

I feel like that would create chaoticness for various companies, etc. To keep the sustaining flow of money so they don't go bankrupt.

 @92K6K6D from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

The economy would gradually began to go down and not be able to handle its self eventually

 @8ZCZCF4 from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

I don't really care as long as it's fair, I guess, it doesn't matter to me.

 @8Z6Q6DHRepublican from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

No, companies that only offer the minimum wage will be required to compete for a reduced workforce. Pay should reflect work skill required and cost of living for the area.

 @8YDNPS2 from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Y988PB from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

One should be paid based on age and experience. Internships are probably best for this.

 @8Y8R77P from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

It should be a state issue since the cost of living is different for each state

 @8Y8QHHS from Alabama  answered…3yrs3Y

Instead of just raising the minimum wage, there should a balance within the economy. and imbalance will create inflation, and the cycle would start. (Cycle: Raising minimum wage raises prices, which in turn would raise the living wage, which would create inflation within the economy, where we would then try to raise the minimum wage again). Instead of focusing on the wage, we should first focus on the businesses/monopoly's inflated their prices based on maximum profit.

 @8Y7JHP2 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but regulations should be put in place to offset potential price spikes akin to anti price gouging laws in the event of a natural disaster.

 @8XSZ9LQ from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8XNXCGVRepublican from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

It should be determined by the location and the current economy in that location.

 @8XGDW3R from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

They should adjust minim wage based off of the cost of living in each economic area

 @8XFH88X from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

A slight increase needs to occur, maybe around $9.25-10. These jobs were never meant to provide for a family.

 @8XB7QM5 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

minimum wage should be enough for someone working full time to pay for the bare minimum necessities (rent, food, transportation, ect).

 @8X8X5VR from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

The minimum wage should be decided on a state and local level based on the purpose of the minimum wage which is for high-schoolers to have extra money to contribute back to the economy.

 @8WW7SBP from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that it could cause economic problems if they do but it wouldn't also be a bad thing technically

 @8WSJX3H from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

I think it should be raised to 10 dollars or 9 double the amount is a far step.

 @8WSJW58 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8WMZR3P from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

The Federal Minimum wage SHOULD be a livable wage. Since the establishment of the minimum wage of $7.25 years ago, inflation and the cost of living has only gone up. The government should raise the federal minimum wage to be a livable wage.

 @8V6TGJ4 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Its just going to make the cost of living go up therefore its tricking your brain into thinking youŕe making more money but you are also spending more to live.

 @8V5S36D from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

This should be between individual state, local, and federal government to decide.

 @8TZWHNMIndependent from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, It should be based upon skill level and locale instead of a standard rate for all Americans.

 @8TVKRVH from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TS9PNL from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

People need a living wage, but increasing minimum wage will only increase prices on goods

 @8TCPKX9 from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

No, minimum wages should be set depending on the cost of living expenses in the area employees work.

 @8T58S8N from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Regardless, tie it to the poverty line and adjust it yearly for inflation

 @8T4TZYF from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

No, it should be the responsibility of state governments to make their minimum wage adjusted to the living wage of the state

 @8SSMXPYRepublican from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

i believe it should be raised a little bit to no cause inflation as much.

 @8SS2N8C from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

Minimum wage should be adjusted to the current economic situation, whether an increase or decrease

 @Dancraft41American Solidarity from Alabama  answered…4yrs4Y

No, minimum wage should be handled by the states and adjusted for each state's individual conditions.
