Minimum wage needs to be enough that someone working 40 hours a week at that wage can afford housing, transportation, food and health care without needing government assistance. Wages lower than that threshold essentially promote government subsidization of employers

if minimum wage is an issue find another job; there are so many opportunities. raising the minimum wage would raise inflation.
@9GKZP7F2yrs2Y
I agree but someone with a big family should not be working a job that has minimum wage so I do not think it should be raised.

Minimum wage needs to be abolished because it forces small businesses to comply, and since smaller businesses cant keep up with it, it makes them go out of business while big business can grow and become monopolies.

California did it, rising from §10 / h to §15 / h.
In the first year, minimum wage increased by §1 / h for big business, and the following year §1 / h for small businesses, on the idea that people going to work at large businesses have lunch, get dry cleaning, etc, at small ones, which is how they'd be able to afford it in the second year.

Minimum wage should workout for everybody and prices on goods and other objects that are needed for daily life should be reduced so that low income families don't have to struggle to feed themselves and their kids.
@9GKCLHG2yrs2Y
No because minimum wage jobs, like fast food restaurant were meant for highschool students to gain work experience and build their resume.
@9GLJVTX2yrs2Y
I agree because there is no way anyone can live comfortably with the cost of everything is going up while the minimum wage is remaining the same.
@9GLJLMT2yrs2Y
Yes, I agree with this comment. The cost of living is way too high, and the current federal minimum wage doesn't allow for people to meet the cost of living. It should be in the government's best interest for it's citizens to be able to afford to live, but it should also be their responsibility.

The average person who lives off of paycheck to paycheck. Minimum wage can barely cover things a person needs, so minimum wage should be rise.
@9GKJN2Y2yrs2Y
Minimum wage should be enough to live off of and not have to worry about how your gonna pay for your housing, food, or health care. This is because if someone has a minimum wage job then they shouldn't have to worry about money especially if they can't get a higher paying job.
@9GKDLKN2yrs2Y
Raising the minimum wage to a living wage could reduce the number of people dependent on government assistance, leading to potential savings in social welfare programs.
@9GKCVWV2yrs2Y
Yes, the minimum wage has not been raised to keep up with rate of inflation causing the poverty line to become higher
@9GKCQ3K2yrs2Y
I agree that minimum wage should be raised. In order for the minimum wage to be sustainable for those working a 40 hour week it should be able to support their needs.
@9GLLB9Q2yrs2Y
I agree because I t's important for the minimum wage to be set at a level where people can afford their basic needs without relying on government assistance. It helps promote fair compensation for workers and reduces the burden on taxpayers.
@9GKS98N2yrs2Y
I fully agree to this. No one should be forced to work beyond reasonable hours just to be able to afford less than the bare minimum. The minimum wage is meant to be a livable wage.
I agree in the way that it should be barely enough. Someone shouldn't be happy with there living conditions if there only getting minimum wage. It would prevent people from working harder to make more money so there would be a lack of jobs.

As an 18 year old female, I have had a few jobs. The pay wasn't enough at the end of the week because of how high the taxes are. Making 14.50 and hour for 8 hour days. Only bringing home 100-200 dollars.
@9GKJVPD2yrs2Y
I think they need to be paid more because they've been working as hard as they can and still get paid little
