Paul LePage, who previously served as Maine's governor from 2011 to 2019, has officially filed to run for Congress in Maine's 2nd Congressional District.
LePage, a Republican, will challenge incumbent Democrat Jared Golden in what is expected to be a highly contested race in 2026. His entry sets up a significant political showdown in one of the nation's most competitive swing districts. LePage's candidacy could reshape the political landscape in Maine and draw national attention.
A formal campaign announcement is expected soon.

Oh great, just what we need—LePage back in the spotlight trying to drag Maine backwards again.

LePage getting back in the game is definitely interesting—at least he isn’t afraid to call out big government nonsense. Maine could use someone in Congress who actually stands up to federal overreach and respects individual freedoms. I just hope he sticks to libertarian principles and doesn’t get caught up in the usual party politics. At the end of the day, less government interference and more personal liberty should be the goal, no matter who wins.
