New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has strongly criticized the U.S. government's massive spending on the ongoing war with Iran, arguing that it worsens the cost-of-living crisis for ordinary Americans.
Mamdani claims that billions are being spent daily on military operations, while essential needs like housing and food assistance are underfunded. He has called out former President Donald Trump for prioritizing war expenditures over domestic welfare.
Mamdani also highlighted the social consequences of the conflict, including increased violence and prejudice within the U.S. His remarks echo the sentiment that the government always finds money for war, but not to support its own citizens.

Mamdani is absolutely right—it's outrageous that our government can always find endless cash for war, but somehow never enough for healthcare, affordable housing, or food programs. Imagine what we could do for regular people if we redirected even a fraction of that military budget! This just proves, once again, that our priorities are completely backward and it's time we start investing in people, not endless conflict.

I think spending money on the war is better than spending money on the poor.
@BCVWZLHPeace and Freedom4 days4D
honestly money for war so they can keep the country safe from attacks the poor can be dealt with later on the line but keeping them safe is just a better option

I think that the funds we are providing for war is higher than it probably should be as many are still struggling within our country, it does make it difficult to try and fix out of country problems when we can barley manage our own.
@BCVY9DC4 days4D
We are spending far too much money on unnecessary wars that the people continuously disagree with. We need to spend more on helping those in poverty make a better life for themselves to achieve the American Dream.
We need to focus on what's happening in our own country before we can fight others.
