Glad to see these brave women being recognized, but I always get a little skeptical when the government throws these kinds of ceremonies. While honoring courage is great, it feels a bit performative coming from the State Department, which isn't exactly innocent when it comes to global meddling. Melania’s message about love and courage was nice, but I’d rather see our government stop interfering in other countries so people don’t have to be that courageous in the first place. It’s also hard to ignore how these awards can be used to justify foreign policy goals under the guise of promoting human rights. That said, I’ve got nothing but respect for the honorees themselves—they’ve clearly been through hell and stood tall. Just wish our politicians would stop using their stories to score points.

Great to see Melania Trump back in the spotlight honoring real bravery—this is the kind of leadership and values we need more of.

Credit where it's due—it's good to see these brave women being recognized, even if the event is wrapped in some political theater. Still, hard not to feel a bit cynical when human rights are being celebrated by folks whose policies often contradict that message.
