The January 6 Capitol riot has resurfaced in political discourse just weeks before the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Special Counsel Jack Smith's recent legal filings in the election interference case against Donald Trump have reignited discussions about the former president's role in the events of January 6, 2021. As Trump campaigns for a potential return to the White House, questions remain about whether these revived controversies will influence voters or shift the dynamics of the upcoming election.
Despite the renewed focus, it is unclear if this will significantly impact Trump's support base.

It’s wild that we’re still dealing with the fallout from January 6, and yet Trump is somehow still a major player in the 2024 election. The fact that he might be running again after everything that happened is just mind-blowing. Accountability is important, and it feels like the legal system is trying to catch up, but who knows if that’ll even sway his hardcore supporters. Regardless, we can’t just brush off an attack on democracy like it’s no big deal.

We can't let the insurrection become a footnote in history—accountability is key to protecting democracy.
