Yes but they should meet a higher standard of training due to the responsibility they have in their workplace if they would like to carry in the school

 @8FZJDW8 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only with strict training protocols and frequent refresher qualifications.

 @9BKMF62 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

Certain teachers/officials should be cleared to carry a firearm for safety purposes

 @95TBGP2 from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8WH9KHJ from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but as long as they keep it in a safe away from student's view and only use it when necessary.

 @8TDFXG8Republican from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, only after the proper training and psychological screening prior too and periodically after authorization.

For like protecting students from bad people BUT it could only put the students more at risk depending on the situation.

 @8RP69DK from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

If a teacher chooses to carry a gun they may if they have a valid gun license and gun training to shoot in only the most necessary situations

 @8R8M8D8 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R8LGDX from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but make the teacher is qualified to use the gun and that it is stored somewhere safe.

 @8R8HHD5 from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

If the school has a resource officer that is highly trained, that officer should be allowed to have a concealed weapon.

If a teacher has one make sure they are trained and keep it away from students at all times. If they are caught playing around with it then they should be fired.

 @8NHHV6C from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but there should be extensive training on gun safety and use before hand.

 @8L8T4T8 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

yes. I think they should, but the students should not know where it is at or that the even have it to decrease the risk of an accident waiting to happen. maybe not every teacher, but a good number of them.

 @KslayGreen from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8J3N7H9 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

yes if only they have knowledge and should be keeped in a locked safe place

 @8HW7TLYRepublican from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

It's questionable. Would it provide safety? yes. I think this needs to be discussed more in depth.

 @8HRGK2G from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only after, extensive training, this will lower the rate of school shootings, because if teachers are trained, nobody will want to shoot the school up.

 @8HLRLPV from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, Teachers need to be checked with their record and background first

 @8HK6XWX from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only if they have completed a psychological and background check, and have completed firearm training taught by professionals

 @8HJ5947 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only as a secondary response, trained professional security and LE should be the primary defense response for schools.

 @8HH7LR5 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, if the teacher is permitted under current statutes and deemed qualified as such through their private hiring negotiations with their employer.

 @8H3JT6B from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

It depends on who the teacher is! It’s almost like a test needs to be given!

The police at schools should be better trained. Teachers sign up for the job to teach, not to carry guns because the police are so incompetent that they can't even protect a school.

 @8DS66QD from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

In some situations it might be permissible, but this is likely to cause more problems than it solves.

 @8DBC6XD from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

A school resource officer provided by the local police or sheriff’s office in each school.

 @8D8YB22American from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

No, there should be a police presence but it should not feel like a prison or military presence.

 @8CWQHB3 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers should only be allowed to carry guns after being professionally trained by law enforcement.

 @8CRJZD5 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

I think it depends on where the school is located. Small, rural schools don’t have access to the same law enforcement resources that larger urban or suburban areas have.

 @8CP4HPD from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8C4YSPW from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

This is assuming that teachers are capable of stopping crime by carrying a weapon. And it assumes they are trained to always make the “correct” decision with that weapon. It may deter school shootings, but has severe gaps in the argument

 @8NT4453 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes but have them locked up and accessible ONLY IN CONFIRMED EMERGENCIES

 @8NGH6LN from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

hire trained professional guards as well as it being a definite increase in accidental shootings

 @8N5TGHG from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8L2W22M from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only if each student knows about it and the teachers have extensive background checks and training and mental tests.

 @8JCH68Y from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Teachers have a right to have concealed carry and have their weapon with them

 @8GP4LSD from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes but only if licensed and go thru proper checks and security for the fun

 @8G43V9CAmerican from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Only with proper training and licensing specifically for teachers who will be concealed carrying at the school they work in.
