Yes and no, yes because it would help prevent any bad things happening like school shootings you would be protected by the teachers, no because if a teacher gets into it with a student they might harm that student because they are upset.

 @B3ZZZJR from North Carolina  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, but teachers should be required to have concealed carry permits and go through additional training, as well as prove they are trustworthy.

 @B2JYQ7M from North Carolina  answered…4mos4MO

i think the office should be able to unlock a very secure safe from the office in case of emergency so the teachers wouldnt have access to them regualry

 @9ZSVSFCLibertarian from North Carolina  answered…6mos6MO

No, hire professionally trained security guards and only if the teacher has training and if they have had a psychological test done every year.

 @9XKFDKC  from North Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, if the teacher goes through special firearms training and the school administration is notified

 @9X4YSLN from North Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

I don't think teacher should carry a gun I still think that school still need protection so I think that every school should have a school cop at every school for the protection of kids and adults.

 @9WZTDS4 from North Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

keep the use of multiple SRO's with teachers carrying guns that brings an added fear factor to schools and will make students fearful of teachers as well. teachers can also be unpredictable.

 @9WYRMVS from North Carolina  answered…7mos7MO

until the government can figure out how to prevent children from obtaining guns in a way that doesn't affect the 2nd amendment,teachers probably should have a gun in a locked case to protect themselves and students

 @9VJB47H from North Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but they must have proof of extensive professional training and regular psych evaluations for each school year

 @9V4X4YN from North Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

while a somewhat good Idea I do not think such a thing is good because it can result in tension when you know your teacher is armed

 @9TX4ZK8 from North Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, but only if the teacher has passed the same safety and handling courses that law enforcement officers are required to take.

 @9TTPQHJGreen from North Carolina  answered…8mos8MO

After proper checks to make sure they are comfortable, teachers should be allowed to keep one in the desk.

 @9SXQPTQ from North Carolina  answered…9mos9MO

Schools should be gun free zones except for kids learning to shoot. Fix the economy and we’d end mass shootings.

 @9SJH6NJ from North Carolina  answered…9mos9MO

All the security guards should be trained and all the teachers should be trained as long as they agree to put the gun in a secret and protected area.

 @9RMMP8ZPopulist from North Carolina  answered…10mos10MO

If teachers are willing to carry and have a clean record then yes. But it would be best to have trained security guards as well according to the size of the school grounds.

 @9QVTQMM from North Carolina  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but make the carriers liable for any accidents or harm caused by their weapon that occurs outside of a obvious shooter situation.

 @9LM5JTGPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Not a teacher because this could cause an accidental or purposeful shooting if a student gets a hold of it, but a security guard or police officer should be able to carry one.

 @9K9XG2QRepublican from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

A teacher's job is to teach, not carry a loaded weapon around because they may accidentally let it off.

 @9K6YTTV from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, If the teacher has the proper training and is deemed fit enough to be able to make decisions in a high-stress environment without risk of casualties.

 @9K67NL3Women’s Equality from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if a teacher is comfortable enough and has gone through extreme and rigorous training and only uses it as a last resort when it comes to dealing with violence in schools.

 @9HN49D3 from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

If the area or country is more pron to school shootings then it would make sense but thats not every school

 @9HJ8H5D from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

yes,but teachers should be properly taught with hard training on how to use it and along with background checks.

 @9HH6VM2Green from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

The teachers need to be trained and have a background check for criminal history, and have mental screening if they are going to be armed around kids. More restrictions.

 @9H9VQQV from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

I could see how it could be beneficial because if someone has a weapon in the class room it would be a good way to protect students. But if a teacher who isn't properly trained to have a gun has one someone could get hurt or students could fight the gun off of the teacher. I don't think there should be guns in school at all but we have gotten to a point we might need it as self defense. Or we could get better trained officers at schools.

 @9GYT957 from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I think teachers should do it only if they want to, and obviously they need a lot of proper training.

 @9F7PWNM from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, If the teacher, can legally own one, and knows how to use it, as well as have it very secure.

 @8G7LVGQRepublican from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

As long as the teachers are professionally trained on how to operate a gun.

 @9BQ8XH6 from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I think if teachers went through a training process and had a gun registered then yes along with a security guards, a select number of teachers should be allowed to carry a gun. Or increase the number of security guards at that given school

 @9BLFTZV from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BLFCVY from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I thuink they should be able to but they just have to go through training to have it so they know how to properly use it

 @9BLDC88Independent from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Should be allowed to carry no-lethal forms of self-defense like pepper-spray or a taser

 @9BLBMCP from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BLBFH2 from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BL35GM from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

I think a processed arming of teachers involving due training, courses, and judgement would be a fruitful measure however we must research it first.

 @9BKHZBQ from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BK784T from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9B9FCDZ from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

No, this would make it easier to have access to them from anyone within the school, most school shootings are caused by individuals inside the institution, essentially students with mental inestability.

 @99YVKN7 from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

teacher should be able to have a place in the classroom with a locked and secure place that a gun can be used in events like a break in or a school shooting, but i also believe that teacher should not have access to these things at all time i feel like in these cases that someone should be able to unlock these places in case of something like this because teachers are people to and can i just as bad as others

 @96DGCMG from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, schools are public areas meaning carrying a weapon around them wouldn't be a good idea and having weaponry at a school isn't smart it could end up with a possible shooting or even damage to the school and if teachers aren't trained it isn't good either so no.

 @96DC32FPeace and Freedom from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @96CV9HX from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9694FHK from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9676FYN from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I think it would have to be cleared by the districts and the principles of each school, but it's not the worst idea. The teachers would need to be trained in depth and be able to secure it so students or visitors couldn't use it.

 @9669JQD from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

yes and no i think that they could have guns but with super vision and someplace safe but i think they need to be trained on gun saftey before they get them

 @962MLB5 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

There should be one armed security guard per school. but teachers shouldn't be armed.

 @962KD8FRepublican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9628ZGD from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

i think yes and no. in case of a active shooter, they should be prepared, but no because if someone grabs that gun with intentions of hurting people, it could wend badly.

 @95L7FYP from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

With proper training and security yes. Increasing police presence in school would increase the relationship between communities and police

 @92V2564Independent from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92TZTJ7 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, but after a background check and strict searching to make sure the teacher is safe to have it.

 @92MYPRK from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Let veterans do what they are trained to do protect. We protect our money and prisoners but not our children.

 @92DBZV8 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

yes, but with proper training and a turo backround check and mental evaluation

 @92DBTR8 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe if the teacher had a firearm secured for the protection of his/her students it could be beneficial.

 @92DBPS8 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92D6Z2Q from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @926LR48Republican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but they should require a training course and background check for any teachers volunteering to carry guns at school.

 @92467H2 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but the guns should be locked up and put away. They should have to go through a lot of training and strict background checks. The guns would only be able to be released and into the teachers/guards hands when there is an armed intruder in the building. They shouldn't have the guns out regularly. They shouldn't be easily obtained.

 @8ZXS6C8 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but with extensive procedures and precautions to ensure the safety of students.

 @8ZWSH8JRepublican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZT6789Republican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZRV5R2 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

although this might be a good idea to stop school shooters , this might not be safe .

 @8ZD5MML from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XW4XYJ from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XVHVWFRepublican from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

i think there should be restrictions to which teacher and if they have a background

 @8XTN4TR from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe if we go through extensive background checks and other requirements to make sure that person is capable of carrying a gun to protect the children in the school it should be allowed.

 @8XKBF4G from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

I think Yes, because it could be concealed carry and high training and extreme background checks.

 @8XCHRLR from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they need to be properly trained and need to have safety precautions in place.

 @8WNH8HZAmerican from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

ONLY and ONLY if they are well trained and know how to use a gun for dire situation and potential threat purposes like a school shooter

 @8WNCY92 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8WFVWJH from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes 3 well trained teachers should be able too plus a resource officer.

 @8W7ZT6B from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No, there should be no guns in a school regardless of who is carrying it.

 @8W62QSH from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should be allowed to carry guns at school if it is within their legal limits in the state for self defense purposes.

 @8VZGNNB from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TRM2WT from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TP65H5 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8SG26LB from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

For protection purposes, If you know that teacher can be trusted and has had a full background check to make sure no harm can be caused then they should be able to have protection for them and the students, if it is also locked away somewhere that no student will be able to access this or ever be able to accidentally cause a shooting.

 @8SD6744 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, but they should have it locked in a drawer and not tell there students its ther

 @8RVXMSJ from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8RH7GML from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8RF7WR9 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R37BB9 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

I don't teachers should be allowed to but definitely the police officers or security guards on school grounds.

 @8QZ5XRC from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Some teachers that have had decent training and have had thorough background checks in case of security risks

 @8QNBNWW from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should not be able to carry guns at school, however schools should be required to have at least one trained person to be armed.

 @8QMZ2XX from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Q2YPF2 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @newsomec17 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No, rather devote funding from the local police departments to have armed officers on campus at all times.

 @8P9MSKF from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8NRKG4MDemocrat from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, require teachers to take firearm safety classes, and do not disclose the armed teachers name to anyone else.

 @8NMYJRF from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes but only one certified teacher per department with regulated mental health checks

 @8MRL5JH from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only a small percentage of the teachers or security guards would be allowed to carry a gun and they would have to go through classes and certification to be able to have a gun.

 @8MK4JKH from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, because if there is a school shooting the teachers could protect the students.

 @8MJHM3M from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, there should be training classes for teachers who want to carry a weapon on school grounds
