Yes, but they need to be trained and learn gun safety. Also need to have a place only they could get into.

 @B4R6XGCRepublican from Indiana  answered…1mo1MO

No, this would have some problems with potentially psychological teachers and some accidental shootings can occcur

 @B38J7WMRepublican from Indiana  answered…3mos3MO

Teachers should not be allowed firearms. Instead well trained law enforcement officers should be assigned to each school according to the number of students.

 @B2TP5J5 from Indiana  answered…4mos4MO

There should be focus on reducing the number of school shootings via gun control and mental health programs before arming teachers is considered.

 @B2M6LJF from Indiana  answered…4mos4MO

Ban assault weapons, increase background checks for gun owners and increase security in schools to prevent school schootings

 @B2CY8LG from Indiana  answered…4mos4MO

Only if the teacher chooses, and is legally allowed to own a firearm, and have been properly trained in responsible firearm ownership, and it is secured in a way that absolutely no student can get to it.

 @B29TTQZRepublican from Indiana  answered…5mos5MO

It depends on the teachers experience and how well they can handle the gun. Also, if they do, they should be required to make sure that their students can't access it, or have the safety on at all times unless in an emergency, to lower the risk of accidental shootings.

 @9YBR73B from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

I think that security guards should be able to carry them and at least one teacher but they have to be ex military but they need to be honorably discharged and need to be licensed for it and need to have it in a safe in their drawers

 @9Y6JM42 from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

Yes but it should be kept in a lock box that the teacher can only get if there is a shooter and they go through a training to handle the gun.

 @9XVZBXHDemocrat from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

if there don't have a criminal record maybe, Protection yes maybe have them in a place where someone who is trustworthy can open it

 @9XGHP9F from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

Yes but they should have to take a firearms class as well as a self-defence class to ensure that using a firearm is the last option.

 @9W5YC66 from Indiana  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, but there should be requirements in place that must be met (training, psych evaluation, etc) before teachers are permitted to do so.

 @9VL7LMY from Indiana  answered…8mos8MO

All teachers should be allowed to carry with the increase of school shooting but teachers should have training required

 @9S3G36Z  from Indiana  answered…10mos10MO

Higher a security guard, if possible, of course. Allow teachers to have one but kept double locked at all times (e. in a locked safe, in a locked drawer) and triple locked when classroom/area is unattended. A checks and balance system would need to be implemented in order to ensure all staff feels safe and comfortable.

 @9KT3B3PRepublican from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, I think there should be guns locked up in teachers rooms in case of emergency. But the teacher shall not get the gun out unless of a real emergency. The guns should not be loaded and the safety feature should be on until needed.

 @3GNVQSJConstitution from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

YES; as should any non-student, adult with a license or permit to carry. Gun Free Zones are Criminal Opportunity Zones

 @9J5P7CT from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only if they go through all the specific requirements that it takes to legally own and carry a firearm.

 @9HVVFS6Independent from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, as long as they are trained and licensed. Trained security guards would be the more practical approach but I see no issue with teachers carrying as long as they're properly trained.

 @9HLF5LL from Indiana  answered…1yr1Y

Only if they are also employed as highly trained security guards by schools who choose such. I homeschool my children to avoid the sick and terrifying gun and school shooter culture at schools. Disgusting fear based way to treat children.

 @9GWTGL4 from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

not all teachers just ones with intense firearms training if there is no school resource officers viable to the school system

 @9G7R6LZ from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but the teacher should be required an even more thorough background check than that of a normal teacher and should have to take a regular psych evaluation

 @9G6B9KJ from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

With proper regulations, selected proven good teachers can in case of major emergency (gun locked in a case of course) and a security guard with non lethal take down equipment (like tazers, and or pepper spray) and a gun locked in a case for emergencies.

 @9G4T7HS from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

No, because this could cause an accidental shooting, and in case this actually happens the safety of the other kids, and maybe just having more trained staff like maybe more cops on standby

 @9G42D5Y from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

While I think teachers having guns is a terrible idea, it should be decided by communities on a local level.

 @9FMGPH5 from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9FLV3JRRepublican from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9FKXFKV from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

Every teacher should have a liscense and be trained in proper gun use father taking a proper background and mental health check for the protection of students

 @9F9SP9SWomen’s Equality from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

yes but the gun should be kept away and hidden at all times unless when needed

 @9DKV5QT from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

 @8K73ZZK from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

What the heck is this question. NO. That is stupid. Because there should also not be a need for the guns in the first place and we should focus on stopping that first

 @8FYXNZP from Indiana  answered…5yrs5Y

 @9QFTZNQ from Indiana  answered…11mos11MO

No, ensure states increase funding for school resource officers and implement emergency plans instead.

 @9BWSYC3Democrat from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BWG3Q6 from Indiana  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, but they should be properly trained so it is safe for students and other staff

 @974JRK7 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @96P62DWIndependent from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but the teachers should have a safe where they put the gun and they are the only ones that have the passcode.

 @96NNTM2 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94QJ29VDemocrat from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94J53VN from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, the school should pick 3-5 teachers spread out across the school who are mentally and physically prepared for that situation at school

 @94D6JYR from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @94BVLHQ from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93ZP4C4 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, teachers with gun training should have them, and if they don't have training we should train them

 @93NRSBKLibertarian from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, if teachers and staff can choose and be trained, and if students' families can choose whether or not to go to that school based on whether there is armed staff.

 @93HZ6JS from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

As long as it is kept some where safe from students and not on the teacher the gun should be locked away only to be shown when it is need

 @93B5JQ7 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

I think the school should have a professional but because they are a private institution it's up to them.

 @92Y5MJRWomen’s Equality from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but the teacher should have to go through extensive psychology screenings and safety training

 @92HTMJ4 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZZZJHQ from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZRR7LZ from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but have a trusted bond with us and make sure that we stay safe and only to have to pull it out if there was a situation to happen.

 @8ZJYJWT from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, But they have to keep it in a case and locked so only that teacher that owns it can get into the case when locked. Just in case there is a break in or something happens that is really bad. They would have to have it checked everyday they came in. There can't be amo in the gun.

 @8ZJWNVZ from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes but it needs to be put somewhere she or he can get if they absolutly need it.

 @8Z7G99ZLibertarian from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, if the teacher prefers to, has had adequate training, and passed background screenings.

 @8Z3MC88 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z2QGN7 from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YZ2FBJRepublican from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8YDPV6V from Indiana  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but teachers should provide proof of professional firearms training to be allowed to carry in school

 @8XGK8FF from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

No, I do not agree with weapons being used by anyone. There needs to be much more to protect teachers than with a weapon.

 @8XB79P6 from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I think they should if they are in a bad area, or a bad schools district that has history of violence.

 @8XB5PKTDemocrat from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8X9MYNL from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

no this would increase the risk of school shootings and we could hire bodyguards

 @8X67NFN from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Have at least 2 police officers armed in all schools for trained protection.

 @8X67C3F from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

teachers should be able to have a gun in a safe in their room only after trainging on how to use it and after knowlage on when to use it

 @8X26SQT from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should be allowed to carry a gun if they have a license and training.

 @8WZ9NND from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I think no, but there should be a cop that is armed because they are trained and a kid can come up to a teacher and take it a little more easier then a cop.

 @8WLS8TN from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I would say yes, but it has to be absolutely sure that the teacher is qualified to have the firearm. And they shouldn’t have it on them at all times, hidden securely in the classroom.

 @8W979KQ from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8W4T9KC from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only with all the proper gun safety measures in place; unloaded, ammo stored in separate area, securely locked, etc.

 @8W33ZL2 from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VZGJ59 from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VYN638Peace and Freedom from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I think teachers should be allowed to carry a gun although there needs to be some sort of limit or filter for the amount of teachers allowed and which teachers can carry.

 @8VPK44ZRepublican from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but teachers should have more of a less harmful weapon like a taser

 @8VGDJTBIndependent from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

No, encourage more schools to have one or more police on-campus instead

 @8VFK9ZD from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VDQJ9N from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but they should be trained to be able wield, properly maintain, and be safe with a firearm.

 @8V9N9ZG from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TY842L from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers who wish to go through proper training to carry a firearm in school shall be allowed to do so.

 @8TY7MCJ from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe that guns should not be in schools. I think schools should train students and teachers to use everyday items as weapons in case of emergency such as pencils, forks, and more. On the other hand, I realize how many school shootings there are and am not opposed to the idea of a security guard being armed in a school for that reason.

 @8TT4LK7 from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Leave it up to teachers but make sure they are properly trained. Also, they must remain anonymous and always keep it on them.

 @8TSSCQRDemocrat from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TSSBX7Socialist from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

No I don’t believe this is helpful at all because it will only provoke fear.

 @8TSS56R from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Teachers should not be able to carry guns at school. However, security guards should be allowed to as long as they go through background checks, physiological testing, and training.

 @8TR2HPMDemocrat from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

Maybe if they were trained and it was locked up somewhere safe in classroom

 @8TDJBXY from Indiana  answered…4yrs4Y

I do feel having protecting at school is important but having a professionally trained person I feel is safer because if that gun were in a spot that a student was able to find an accidental shooting could occur which I feel is not safe and then the teachers would be more stressed and scared having the responsibility of holding a gun.
