Yes

Nobody chooses to be heterosexual or gay or bisexual or to have any of the sexualities. Its just how somebody is born. You cannot ban people something by how they are born. It is the same as saying black people cannot marry, or that people with blonde hair or blue eyes cannot marry. Sexuality like sex and color just naturally happen, nobody chooses any of these things . People are who they are.

  @TruthHurts101 from Washington  commented…2yrs2Y

No, marriage should be defined as between a man and woman

That's blatantly false; sodomy is a mental health pandemic not a natural thing

 @CampaignCatalogerRepublican from New York  disagreed…2yrs2Y

While I understand your point that people don't choose their sexual orientation, it's important to consider the cultural and traditional aspects of marriage. Marriage, for some, has always been a union between a man and a woman, deeply rooted in religious beliefs and societal norms. An example to consider is the belief in certain religious communities that marriage is for procreation, and a same-sex couple may not naturally fulfill this role.

However, I'd like to hear your thoughts on how we can respect the traditional and religious beliefs of some while still advocating for equal rights and opportunities for all, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Yes

Thanks for the cooment. before i answer the questions i would like to know if you believe that gay marriage should be legal or illegal?

  @TruthHurts101 from Washington  disagreed…2yrs2Y

No, marriage should be defined as between a man and woman

It should be illegal; we shouldn't be encouraging immoral behavior by offering tax breaks and benefits to those who commit these abominable acts

 @9BP7TPL from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

Who you love shouldn’t be a religion’s or government’s business, and any laws dictating who one should love or marry should be abolished. For marriage licenses, all that should be required is two or more people above the legal age and capable of consenting. Nothing more. Love means different things to different people, and the governments shouldn’t decide what type of love or people are allowed to get married.

  @lemans3427  from California  disagreed…2yrs2Y

It's true that governments shouldn't dictate who one should love or marry, but there are some who argue that the legalization of same-sex marriage undermines the traditional definition of marriage. They believe that marriage should only be between a man and a woman, as that is the only natural union that can produce offspring. For example, in 2015, Chief Justice Roberts dissented in the landmark case of Obergefell v. Hodges, arguing that marriage has always been defined as a union between a man and a woman, and that it is not the role of the judiciary to redefine it. What do you think? Is the traditional definition of marriage something that should be preserved?

 @B2Q9CDP from Oregon  answered…3mos3MO

No and I don’t support same sex dating either including if they don’t have sex which they shouldn’t be doing anyways. Also people who are attracted to the same sex need therapy not to change their sexual orientation because that’s impossible but how to manage not to act on same-sex attraction.

 @9DCWZLC from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

es, but allow churches and business the right to refuse same-sex ceremonies

 @9WW3SLP from Oregon  answered…7mos7MO

The state should get out of the marriage business entirely. It's about civil and social contracts among consenting adults.

 @9R3DP25Independent from Oregon  answered…10mos10MO

Take Marriage out of government and instead hold civic unions between any two consenting adults with the same tax breaks.

 @9LJK7GX from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

The federal government should have no role at all in any marriage. None. 10th amendment. No mention of marriage in the constitution.

 @9GGWJSS from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

If it makes them happy then sure but don't pressure other people to feel the same way or make them question themselves.

 @mk  from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, the government should not define who or what a marriage is, it should just record that two people have entered a fixed economic and legal union. Defining what that is called is up to the people.

 @mk  from Oregon  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, the government should not define marriage, only record that two people are in a fixed economic and legal union.

 @99XNQ5TDemocrat from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

I don’t really care, it’s their choice and life and they get to choose who they want to love

 @8PJMQGC from Oregon  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but allow churches the right to refuse same-sex ceremonies

If two people want to be married then they should be able to do so, but private groups (like religious organizations and wedding businesses etc...) should be able to refuse service to same-sex couples (like making a wedding cake or hosting the wedding) if they see it as a violation of their religious beliefs.

 @96B3ZT8 from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

What we call marriages should instead be made to be civil unions across the board and should be available to partnerships of all genders, with more two or more consenting adults, and should not be legally restricted to romantic and/or sexual relationships.

 @95VLL4S from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Keep government out of it and make it a personal decision, whether religious or personal/cultural. The only thing the government should do is make sure children aren't being forced into marriage.

 @95RVC9MProgressive from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Remove marriage from the us code, grant all of it’s rights and privileges to civil unions, so marriage is a purely religious construct.

 @959YQHF from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

 @93TW2KY from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

“Marriage” began as a religious institution. The government should have never used the term ‘marriage’ to describe the government’s recognization of a union between two people and the apportionment of rights assured to people within said union. By using a religious term, the government delegitimized the religious views of those who believe marriage is between a biological man and woman and also created barriers in obtaining deserved rights for citizens whose unions are not heteronormative in nature. The term ‘marriage’ should be dropped from the political sphere altogether and replaced with civil unions.

While on a moral level I don't support homosexual marriages, its not really my business if someone wants to marry a man or their chair. Leave it to the states and keep your sex life out of my house.

 @937K842Republican from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Get rid of government out of marrige and allow poeple to marry how they want

 @92XNW6W from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

The government should not be involved in marriage at all. It should be a personal decision made by those who wish to get married.

 @92V9H57 from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

i don't agree with it but if people want to do that than they can that's there own choice

 @92V99RX from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

marridge shouldn't be illegal in the first place, it should be if you want to get married; get married

 @92MF54ZConstitution from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but allow churches the right to refuse same-sex ceremonies. Require judges to perform the service since they are government employees/civil servants.

The law should support marriage equality; religious institutions already reserve the right to refuse to marry and couple—including performing marriage ceremonies between one man and one woman if they deem it inappropriate.

 @8NY2VTN from Oregon  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, let them be what they are. Other people being together doesn't effect me.

 @8NT7NWS from Oregon  answered…5yrs5Y

a marraige is a religious ceremony the creates a government recognized civil Union. Since there is religious pushback to homosexuality, the church should have a say. But unless you are married in a church religiously, then it is a civil Union regardless of what the partners are. (i.e. two Buddies living together but not gay can have a civil Union)

 @8L5J2ZG from Oregon  answered…5yrs5Y

I do support it because if you love someone that is the same sex as you then that’s that you should be allowed to marry not marry someone that you don't love just because you are gay or lesbian.

STRAIGHTS MARRIAGE SHOULD BE ILLEGAL

Yes! I am lesbean and believe I should be allowed to marry.

HOWEVER, all these straights don't deserve marriage and should be executed in the name of my personal religion, which is the one true religion! Gay people never create unwanted children; we are therefore SUPERIOR. It's gross to see straights kiss or hold hands in public and all the indoctrination in media is sickening, I tell ya! I hate having all that straight bull **** shoved down my throat! (This is satire.)

 @B3ZJ4J5Republican from Oregon  answered…2mos2MO

Yes le them get married if they want to. How cares what the do together and in their own bedrooms. Am I gay? No but I do mind my own business and dont feel the need to impose my values on others,

 @99XPS4P from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

I religiously am against same sex marriage, however, I also respect the agency of all individuals. As such I am undecided on government interaction.

 @99V5S3SRepublican from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

I think people should be allowed to marry whom they want, however I don't traditionally agree with the practice.

 @9944J2C from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

Marriage shouldn't even be a government and religious process, these two restrict marriage of any sort of person they like.

 @98ZZWNC from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

i do not support it but im not going to tell people what they can and cannot do.

 @98NWSZ6 from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

 @98JTLCCRepublican from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

yes i do but i think in the end a man and a woman should be together to keep reproducing

 @97NFDX5 from Oregon  answered…2yrs2Y

 @976C56N from Oregon  answered…3yrs3Y
