While I agree with getting rid of soft on crime laws and that guns are not the primary issue I don't see a point in boiling this down to race as I believe the targets of a hard on crime policy would be gangs and whether or not there's a majority population in the gangs breaking the point down to race may cause future issues.

 @B7P4LW5Republican from Nebraska  disagreed…8mos8MO

I don't believe the demographic was necessary, the current gun control policy is where it should be. I do agree that its not the gun's problem.

 @B7MNB3G from Virginia  disagreed…8mos8MO

Black people have a higher crime rate which stems from racism, and illegal aliens should have deportation alongside their prison sentenceings.

 @B78PLGS from California  disagreed…9mos9MO

Just because one specific race abuses them does not mean we should be discriminatory, just restrict that person from having a gun, if we do this we are a racist country and we are curving civil liberties for a whole race, and yes the guns are not the problem, the problem is indeed soft on crime policies, but we don't need to be racist towards a specific race.

 @B7B7PGKfrom Virgin Islands  agreed…9mos9MO

The guns are the problem , you guys have thousands of school shootings every year , children and teachers die every year because politicians are not able to put some restrictions on them ( guns)

 @B78BPKJ  from Iowa  commented…8mos8MO

I gurantee if guns are banned criminals would use other weapons like machets or knifes and even if you ban them, they will still have them. if illegals are able to transport illegal drugs into america then they are able to transport "illegal guns" into the country. The government should put more restrictions to buying a gun like a mental check or phyck check because almost all of the school shootings are "trans" people and left sided crazy people that should never own a gun in the first place.

 @B7Q69P2 from Florida  agreed…8mos8MO

I do not agree with this comment. majority of mass shooters and murders in our country are white people and some times republican white people. Make gun laws more strict and you will see lower gun violence overall. Ask all of the other countries who have gun reform.

 @B7PBJQD from Missouri  agreed…8mos8MO

The U.S. has far higher gun homicide rates than any other wealthy nation. Not because Americans are uniquely violent, but because guns are far more available, and gun lethality makes assaults more likely to end in death.

States with tighter gun regulations consistently have lower gun death rates, even after adjusting for poverty and demographics (See the data from CDC and RAND).

Examples:
-Mass (A- in gun law strength) 3.4 gun deaths per 100k people
-Miss (F in gun law strength) 33.9 gun deaths per 100k people
That's a difference of 240 gun deaths annually for an A state vs 1,000 gun…  Read more

No, every race and ethnicity has caused and been affected by gun violence, it's not a race thing, it's a mental health thing

 @B7N996Z from Maryland  agreed…8mos8MO

Black Americans are 12 times more likely to die from a firearm homicide than White Americans, showing that it is, in fact, not a higher crime rate.

 @B793XC4Republican from Alabama  agreed…9mos9MO

I think it is not all blame on guns nor the people using them. I think it is a mix of both and the lack of education.

 @B78J25L  from Oregon  agreed…9mos9MO

If no one had access to guns in the first place, there wouldn't be major problems that we are seeing in modern day society. I understand if guns should not be outright banned and that is not what I am pushing, but limitations and heavier regulations on people for owning them is nessisary. such limitations could include people with a history of violent mental health issues and not just requiring a felony, raising the age to aquire one to 21, and having restricted areas such as open hunting grounds to be the only place they are allowed outside of a case/in a usable state.

that and marginal…  Read more

No I do not agree with this comment. This is a racist comment If nobody has guns nobody get hurt its as simple as that.

 @B78HMYYDemocrat  from California  agreed…9mos9MO

Gun violence is available to anyone including white people, black people and immigrants don't have such a fair shot as they are systematically placed in bad neighborhoods/areas. There would be no gun violence with no guns.

 @B78H44GWomen’s Equality from Texas  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree that the people are the problems, but skin color and immigration status do not affect the nature of a person. and guns are easier to obtain then cars. we need to increase the amount of trials that lead to getting one.

 @B78G947 from Massachusetts  agreed…9mos9MO

I think we should be tougher about these things, but why bring in other races? This has to do with gun control. Not about which people have a higher crime rate. You can murder anyone with anything.

 @B78G42S from Illinois  agreed…9mos9MO

I don't necessarily agree with this, but I like the idea. If we just didn't change the way that immigrants and African American people are perceived then it would be fine.

 @B78FWMRDemocrat from New Jersey  agreed…9mos9MO

I don't agree with this at all. Guns are 100% the problem, just remove them from the regular everyday person and all will be fine. Police do their job.

 @B78FVL9 from Louisiana  agreed…9mos9MO

Access to guns is in fact a major contributing factor to our current firearm crisis. It is unrealistic to think that it can be fixed by banning all guns and asking people to turn over the ones they own. However, it is a good move to greatly restrict access to purchasing guns. I firmly believe the lives of the people and especially children of this country are worth more than ease of access of firearm acquisition

 @B78FTQS from Georgia  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree that there should be more strict punishment on criminals to maintain a low crime rate, so that criminals dont come out of jail to repeat the same crimes.

 @B78FQWC from Connecticut  agreed…9mos9MO

I disagree because just because you think this specific race or ethnicity is the one doing more crimes then other people is crazy, it should be about the person and their mental state and mental illness not because they’re white, black, Latin, Hispanic, etc

 @B78FJ65 from Alabama  agreed…9mos9MO

It is inaccurate to link higher crime rates to illegal immigrants and to suggest they are the primary cause of crime. Studies consistently show immigrants, both legal and undocumented, have significantly lower incarceration rates and are less likely to commit crimes than native-born citizens.

 @B7DRK6P from New York  agreed…9mos9MO

I disagree with the first statement that black people and illegal immigrants have a higher crime rate percentage because anyone or race can be a criminal it could be likely white Americans could have a high crime rate. I agree with the guns aren't the problem and that its the person which proves that the U.S. needs to enforce stricter guns laws in who can and can't own a gun. Mental ill citizens should not be able to own a gun or anyone with a criminal record.

 @B7BKNVV from Colorado  agreed…9mos9MO

This comment sounds racially motivated. Most immigrants aren't here to cause any trouble they came to the U.S to have a better and safer life, crime rates amongst colored folk are contributed to gang members black people aren't always bad or cause trouble meet the right colored folks and then speak out about the race causing trouble. (Spell policies right next time)

 @B7B8SQ7 from South Carolina  agreed…9mos9MO

The problem is institutionalized racism and culture, maybe that could help also but I don't think that's the main thing.

 @B79SGFV from Pennsylvania  agreed…9mos9MO

I agree and I'm a gun owner. It is pretty fast and easy to do in my state. But I could have not known a single thing about guns and it still would have been sold to me. Should be safety course or test and much stricter laws and background checks

People kill people. And the fact is, with about 380 million guns around, can't get rid of guns, plus it's protected in our Constitution.
Mental issues are an increasing problem and with expensive healthcare they don't get the help and we're too easy on criminals

 @B79R45T from Ohio  agreed…9mos9MO

That’s true except that the black people have the highest number of false arrests. Which is why their crime rate is so high. White people have the most amount people in prison. The illegal immigration thing is just not true.

 @B79PVXR from California  agreed…9mos9MO

Not just black people have guns. Everybody doesn't need to have a gun if they are not licensed. And if they get their license just to use it for bad, they should get punished.

 @B79C7J4 from Connecticut  agreed…9mos9MO

I disagree. You would find that more white people who have guns shoot people and have school shootings and/or public shootings.

 @B79MY98 from California  agreed…9mos9MO

This is a blatantly racist take. If you don't want people getting shot, then make it harder to get guns.

 @B7C899N from Michigan  disagreed…9mos9MO

We should have more laws for the illegal immigrants and other immigrants because we won't know for sure if they are illegal and i feel that they would have a higher crime rate then the others because they have already been charged from something in their areas.
