While I agree with getting rid of soft on crime laws and that guns are not the primary issue I don't see a point in boiling this down to race as I believe the targets of a hard on crime policy would be gangs and whether or not there's a majority population in the gangs breaking the point down to race may cause future issues.

Just because one specific race abuses them does not mean we should be discriminatory, just restrict that person from having a gun, if we do this we are a racist country and we are curving civil liberties for a whole race, and yes the guns are not the problem, the problem is indeed soft on crime policies, but we don't need to be racist towards a specific race.

The guns are the problem , you guys have thousands of school shootings every year , children and teachers die every year because politicians are not able to put some restrictions on them ( guns)

I gurantee if guns are banned criminals would use other weapons like machets or knifes and even if you ban them, they will still have them. if illegals are able to transport illegal drugs into america then they are able to transport "illegal guns" into the country. The government should put more restrictions to buying a gun like a mental check or phyck check because almost all of the school shootings are "trans" people and left sided crazy people that should never own a gun in the first place.

The U.S. has far higher gun homicide rates than any other wealthy nation. Not because Americans are uniquely violent, but because guns are far more available, and gun lethality makes assaults more likely to end in death.
States with tighter gun regulations consistently have lower gun death rates, even after adjusting for poverty and demographics (See the data from CDC and RAND).
Examples:
-Mass (A- in gun law strength) 3.4 gun deaths per 100k people
-Miss (F in gun law strength) 33.9 gun deaths per 100k people
That's a difference of 240 gun deaths annually for an A state vs 1,000 gun… Read more

If no one had access to guns in the first place, there wouldn't be major problems that we are seeing in modern day society. I understand if guns should not be outright banned and that is not what I am pushing, but limitations and heavier regulations on people for owning them is nessisary. such limitations could include people with a history of violent mental health issues and not just requiring a felony, raising the age to aquire one to 21, and having restricted areas such as open hunting grounds to be the only place they are allowed outside of a case/in a usable state.
that and marginal… Read more

Access to guns is in fact a major contributing factor to our current firearm crisis. It is unrealistic to think that it can be fixed by banning all guns and asking people to turn over the ones they own. However, it is a good move to greatly restrict access to purchasing guns. I firmly believe the lives of the people and especially children of this country are worth more than ease of access of firearm acquisition

I disagree with the first statement that black people and illegal immigrants have a higher crime rate percentage because anyone or race can be a criminal it could be likely white Americans could have a high crime rate. I agree with the guns aren't the problem and that its the person which proves that the U.S. needs to enforce stricter guns laws in who can and can't own a gun. Mental ill citizens should not be able to own a gun or anyone with a criminal record.

This comment sounds racially motivated. Most immigrants aren't here to cause any trouble they came to the U.S to have a better and safer life, crime rates amongst colored folk are contributed to gang members black people aren't always bad or cause trouble meet the right colored folks and then speak out about the race causing trouble. (Spell policies right next time)

I agree and I'm a gun owner. It is pretty fast and easy to do in my state. But I could have not known a single thing about guns and it still would have been sold to me. Should be safety course or test and much stricter laws and background checks
People kill people. And the fact is, with about 380 million guns around, can't get rid of guns, plus it's protected in our Constitution.
Mental issues are an increasing problem and with expensive healthcare they don't get the help and we're too easy on criminals
