Ten mayors from Tarrant County, including those from Fort Worth and Arlington, have publicly opposed the county commissioners' proposed redistricting plan.
In a strongly worded letter, they question the ethics and legality of the new voting precinct maps and urge the commissioners to delay the scheduled vote. The mayors argue that the process has been rushed and lacks transparency, raising concerns about potential racial gerrymandering. National election law experts have also reviewed the maps, with some suggesting they may unfairly impact minority representation.
The mayors are calling for more time and public input before any decisions are made.

This is exactly why government should have less control over how voting districts are drawn—too much power leads to shady backroom deals and politicians picking their own voters. The process should be transparent and handled by independent, nonpartisan groups, not career politicians with their own interests at stake. When you give bureaucrats this much influence, it’s no surprise people end up feeling unrepresented.
Honestly, it seems totally reasonable for the mayors to ask for more transparency and time—redistricting is important and shouldn’t be rushed. I’m not a fan of either side trying to tilt the playing field, so getting more public input just makes sense. Hopefully, the commissioners listen and this doesn’t turn into another partisan mess.

Glad to see local leaders standing up against shady redistricting that could silence minority voices—gerrymandering has no place in a fair democracy. We need real transparency and community input, not rushed backroom deals that rig the system.

Good on these mayors for standing up against a shady redistricting process—democracy only works when the voices of all communities are heard, not just those in power. This kind of rushed, backroom map-drawing is exactly how minority voters get silenced, and it absolutely needs more transparency and public input.
Looks like another classic move to rig the system for the powerful—redistricting should be about fair representation, not silencing minority and working-class voices.
