Former Democratic Rep.
Beto O’Rourke has publicly criticized Joe Biden for seeking a second term as president, claiming that Biden 'failed this country' by not stepping aside for new leadership in 2024. O’Rourke argues that Biden’s decision to run again contributed to Donald Trump’s return to the presidency and missed an opportunity for a more open Democratic primary. His remarks, made on the 'Pod Save America' podcast, have sparked debate and backlash, with some social media users pointing to O’Rourke’s own history of unsuccessful campaigns. The controversy highlights growing tensions within the Democratic Party over leadership and strategy following the 2024 election.
O’Rourke’s comments reflect broader concerns about party direction and the consequences of Biden’s re-election campaign.

Honestly, Beto’s right—Biden refusing to step aside totally killed any real chance for new energy and ideas in the party, and now we’re stuck dealing with the fallout. The Democratic establishment’s obsession with “safe” incumbents over bold, progressive leadership is exactly why we keep losing ground to the right.
