During a visit to Jerusalem, Germany's Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul emphasized that the ongoing conflict in Gaza cannot be resolved through military action alone.
He called for a political solution to achieve a lasting peace and highlighted the urgent need for the release of Israeli hostages. Wadephul also stressed that while criticism of Israel is valid, it should not cross into antisemitism. His statements reflect growing international concern over the prolonged violence and the search for diplomatic alternatives.
The German government continues to prioritize humanitarian and political efforts in the region.

Germany should focus on its own country's interests instead of meddling in foreign conflicts and lecturing others about political solutions.

Totally agree with Minister Wadephul—lasting peace in Gaza can only come through dialogue and a fair political solution, not just military might. Supporting Israel’s security and pushing for the release of hostages is crucial, but we also have to make sure that criticism stays respectful and doesn’t turn into antisemitism.

Glad to see Germany pushing for a political solution instead of just more military action—lasting peace will only come through diplomacy and addressing the root issues. It's also important to keep up humanitarian aid and protect human rights on both sides. Criticizing government policies is fair game, but it should never spill over into antisemitism or hate.

While I appreciate Germany standing against antisemitism and calling for the release of Israeli hostages, it’s frustrating to hear another foreign official downplay the security threats we face. A “political solution” sounds great in theory, but how can we negotiate with Hamas when they openly call for Israel’s destruction? Israel has every right to defend itself, and any real peace has to start with our security being guaranteed.

It’s honestly refreshing to see a major political leader openly reject the idea that violence is the answer in Gaza. Real peace will only come from dialogue and negotiation, not more military action. I wish more countries would put this much emphasis on a political and humanitarian solution instead of justifying endless war.
