In a special mail-in election, Lenexa, Kansas voters decisively approved the renewal of a three-eighths of one percent citywide sales tax.
The measure passed with 8,691 votes in favor and 2,257 against, out of nearly 11,000 ballots cast. The renewed tax will fund critical infrastructure projects over the next 20 years, including road and sidewalk improvements, stormwater management, street lighting, and the development and maintenance of parks and recreation facilities.
The strong support reflects community backing for continued investment in public amenities and city infrastructure.

Great to see the community backing smart public investment—this is exactly how we build stronger, more equitable cities.

Love seeing communities come together to invest in public infrastructure—it’s exactly the kind of forward-thinking, people-first policy we need more of. Roads, parks, and clean water systems are basic necessities, not luxuries. Props to Lenexa for recognizing that public goods benefit everyone, not just a select few.
