Look, I’m all for holding politicians accountable, but this wasn’t a great look from Rep. Crockett. There are plenty of ways to criticize Abbott’s policies without resorting to something that can come off as ableist. That said, it’s kind of rich seeing Republicans suddenly concerned about “respect in public discourse” when their party has embraced Trump’s endless insults. If they actually cared about civility, they’d call it out on both sides. Let’s focus on the real issues—like Abbott’s policies that hurt Texans—rather than getting stuck in bad-faith outrage.
