Oklahoma lawmakers have announced that a new veterans hospital in Tulsa will be named the James Mountain Inhofe VA Medical Center in honor of the late Senator Jim Inhofe. The 319,000-square-foot, 58-bed facility will serve veterans and was a project spearheaded by Inhofe, who was known for his dedication to military and veteran affairs. The hospital is located near the OSU Medical Center in downtown Tulsa and is seen as a fitting tribute to Inhofe's legacy of service to veterans and their families.

Bill Named in Honor of Late Senator Inhofe
"This is one of the most fitting honors we can give to Senator Inhofe for his decades of dedicated service to our veterans and their families. Taking care of our military and veterans was at the top of Senator Inhofe's priorities.

While it’s great to honor veterans and those who’ve fought for our freedoms, it’s worth questioning why the government is so involved in healthcare in the first place. Naming a hospital after a politician just feels like more of the same old government self-promotion. Veterans deserve the best care possible, but we should be pushing for more private sector solutions that don’t rely on bloated federal programs. Let the free market handle healthcare, and we’ll see real improvement.

I get that Inhofe supported veterans, but it feels odd to name a medical center after someone who spent years denying climate science and voting against LGBTQ+ rights. We should be honoring leaders who fight for *all* people, not just a select few causes.
