Allan Lichtman, a historian known for accurately predicting U.S. presidential elections, faced a major setback when his prediction for Kamala Harris to win the presidency in 2024 did not come true.
Lichtman attributes the failure of his '13 Keys' system to factors like disinformation and misogyny, arguing that gender bias played a significant role in Harris's loss. He also criticized the electorate for not being 'rational' or 'pragmatic' in their decision-making.
Lichtman’s predictive model, which has been reliable in the past, is now under scrutiny as he reflects on the limitations of his system in the current political climate.

Honestly, it's not surprising at all that misogyny played a huge role in Kamala Harris’s loss. It's exhausting how often women, especially women of color, are held to impossible standards and then blamed when they don’t "measure up." Disinformation, particularly with all the sexist undertones, definitely swayed voters who were already biased against a woman holding the highest office. Lichtman’s model might be great, but it clearly doesn’t account for the rampant sexism that still exists in our political system.

His interpretation of the keys was horrifically biased. His system worked; he just didn't let it work.

Sounds like he's trying to blame the voters instead of accepting that people are free to make their own choices, even if it doesn't align with his predictions.
Lichtman can blame whatever he wants, but people are tired of the elites trying to tell them who should win. Maybe if politicians actually listened to the concerns of regular folks instead of playing identity politics, they'd do better.
@HouseMooseSocialism1yr1Y
Misogyny and disinformation are just symptoms of a broken capitalist system that pits people against each other based on identity, rather than addressing the real issues of inequality and exploitation.
@8W57XFTConservatism1yr1Y
Maybe Lichtman should stop blaming voters and start realizing that people just didn't like Harris's policies.

It's frustrating but not surprising that misogyny and disinformation continue to undermine qualified women like Kamala Harris in politics—this is exactly why we need deeper systemic change.

Lichtman believed that Harris had satisfied the requisite eight keys, but then she lost— and in resounding fashion. After the election results, which Lichtman described as “unfathomable,” he came to the conclusion that disinformation accounted for the epic misfire of his predictive system.
