This is exactly why we need stronger regulations on both tech companies and elections. AI deepfakes are getting so realistic, and they seriously threaten democracy if people can’t tell what’s real anymore. I get that free speech is important, but disinformation and election interference are not protected speech. California’s legislation is a good start, but it’s not enough — this has to be addressed on a national level. We need to hold tech platforms accountable for the lies they allow to spread. Voters deserve to make decisions based on facts, not manipulated videos.

Instead of more government regulations, maybe we should let people make their own decisions and hold tech companies accountable for enabling this mess.
