It’s so frustrating that student loan payments are resuming while so many people are still struggling financially. The SAVE plan could be a real game changer, but it’s ridiculous that it's tied up in legal battles. We need more permanent solutions, like full forgiveness or at least a more fair system that doesn’t saddle people with debt for decades. At least the temporary grace period gives some breathing room, but we shouldn’t stop pushing for bigger reforms.

This is exactly why the government shouldn’t be involved in student loans in the first place. They create these temporary “solutions” that just kick the can down the road and leave borrowers in limbo. Let the free market handle loans and education costs instead of burdening taxpayers and creating more bureaucracy. People should be able to negotiate the terms of their own loans without government interference.

The end of the grace period comes as the fate of a generous student loan repayment plan, created by the Biden administration last year, is uncertain. The SAVE (Saving on a Valuable Education) plan is currently on hold as litigation plays out. A hearing is scheduled for October 15 at the 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals.
