An influential think tank close to Donald Trump is developing plans to infuse Christian nationalist ideas in his administration should the former president return to power, according to documents obtained by POLITICO.
Spearheading the effort is Russell Vought, who served as Trump’s director of the Office of Management and Budget during his first term and has remained close to him. Vought, who is frequently cited as a potential chief of staff in a second Trump White House, is president of The Center for Renewing America think tank, a leading group in a conservative consortium preparing for a second Trump term.
Christian nationalists in America believe that the country was founded as a Christian nation and that Christian values should be prioritized throughout government and public life. As the country has become less religious and more diverse, Vought has embraced the idea that Christians are under assault and has spoken of policies he might pursue in response.
America should be recognized as a Christian nation “where our rights and duties are understood to come from God,” Vought wrote two years ago in Newsweek.
“It is a commitment to an institutional separation between church and state, but not the separation of Christianity from its influence on government and society,” he continued, noting such a framework “can lead to beneficial outcomes for our own communities, as well as individuals of all faiths.”
He went on to accuse detractors of Christian nationalism of invoking the term to try to scare people. "’Christian nationalism’ is actually a rather benign and useful description for those who believe in both preserving our country’s Judeo-Christian heritage and making public policy decisions that are best for this country,” he wrote. “The term need not be subjected to such intense scorn due to misunderstanding or slander.”
Here are the top political news stories for today.
This is a real line from the story:
"as well as forcing men “to provide for their children as soon as it’s determined the child is theirs” — a clear incursion by the government into Americans’ private lives.

Parents being in charge of teaching their children about growing up, women carrying their own babies, requiring a reason to break a life-long vow, and yes, men taking care of their children—what an awful world they’re describing!
Of course I’d rather the state brainwash our kids into believing they’re in the wrong body, women outsource pregnancies so they don’t have to take a break from posting narcissistic pics on social media, mothers and fathers split because they feel like it, and men have no responsibilities in life, even for their own children.
The world is upside down. Get your kids out of school and homeschool them if you want to be part of the solution for this madness.
The Left really hate Christians, don't they?
I think they are afraid of us!
Or rather, they are afraid of He who is in us!
You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
@L1b3rtyCatGreen2yrs2Y
They certainly are nationalists, but I don’t ever recall reading about how Jesus wanted us to make the rich richer, hate people who are different, turn away poor refugees or sing to a chorus of dog whistles.

One more reason why Trump won’t and shouldn’t win in November; as a Christian I separate church and state!
@CamelBobbyRepublican2yrs2Y
Aside from the obvious intent to slur, what exactly does this “Christian Nationalism?” label mean in this context?
Does it mean that these ‘allies’ intend to base decisions based on a Christian world view? How is that considered to be a bad thing, even to non-believers?
@9CJ6CB62yrs2Y
Well those beliefs often tend to discriminate against minorities, and are often a platform for religious and irreligious hatred alike to exploit others. Christian Nationalism in the US is the falsified belief that the country was a Christian nation (explicitly stated that we’re not a Christian nation before) and that it should be “taken back” for god. Christian principles, often in the area of delegalizing certain civil rights, are implemented as drastically as a Christian nationalist movement can allow. Many movements wish for an establishment of Christianity as the officia… Read more
we know the left is now stirring up the fear, lies and hate since they have no good policies to run on. Be ready to hear all about "Christian Nationalism" in movies, documentaries and the news until November.
True religious liberty does NOT mean that government doesn't promote Christianity – it means that there isn't an Established Government Church, like the Church of England, that all citizens and officeholders are forced to attend, it means that religious dissenters will not be molested in their acts of worship that are consistent with public safety, it means that Congress shall make no law saying you can't practice a certain religion – but that's all. That's what the founders meant.
Wonderful! We are a Christian Confederacy and it's darn time we replace the toxic woke ideology with some virtue and morality and common sense! TRUMP 2024!
