A 2017 College Board study estimated that the cost of college has increased 100% since 2001. The St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank estimates that U.S. college tuition debt has increased from $480 billion in 2006 to $1.5 trillion in 2018. Several 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary candidates have argued that the cost of college is out of control and that the government should pay for tuition. Opponents argue that the government cant afford it and point to estimates from the Committee for a Responsible Federal budget that estimate programs would cost the government $80 billion a year.

How about pay for trade schools instead. There is more need for trade school than gender studies and liberal arts.

The cost of college has a whole should be less than what it is now, there should be no need for colleges to cost over 20k
@92VJCXL3yrs3Y

It would depend on situations. One being you have no money to pay for college or you have scholarship which help pay for the tuition
@8LLYBW95yrs5Y
Only pay for American Citizens to go to College.
@9CHTJZY2yrs2Y
The US should slowly move towards this over several years, gradually offering more financial aid, and pressure universities to lower tuition.
@98YSB8C2yrs2Y
I think this depends on the situation/who the person is
@98WWPSK2yrs2Y
There should be certain standards around ways that students earn tuition from the government through thinksmlike work study and maintaining a high level of performance in college. That said, tuition rates should also be more monitored as well.
@98WFPLY2yrs2Y
No, but a system that allows college to be cheaper should be worked on.
@98VP25ZRepublican2yrs2Y

No, but there needs to be a restructuring of how higher education is provided.
@8H7DQVCRepublican4yrs4Y
Yes, give the option to apply for a "free tuition" program that taxes only those who decide to enroll in it after graduation. Keep the option for financial aid. Colleges should also consider either lowering tuition or providing more aid of their own.
@8NK54KM5yrs5Y
