No, but a robust labor bargaining system should replace the minimum wage for all states.

 @9XR9CZM from New Jersey  answered…11mos11MO

Minimum wage jobs are meant for experienced and extra spending money, BUT because we have such a problem with unattainable education and economic disadvantage/disparity, many are left with this as their only option to make a living.

 @9XPD6X6 from New Jersey  answered…11mos11MO

Only if current pay on employees goes up as well. Why should someone with no experience make the same or more than an experienced employee

 @9X7JP2F from New Jersey  answered…11mos11MO

yes, however not a complete living wage (should be around 4/5ths of a living wage). along with this, pass a law that states that landlords and wealthy business owners cannot increase rent past a certain threshold for citizens working under minimum wage, make sure minimum wage is more strictly enforced for businesses and allow all starter position jobs in companies that require a degree to pay living wage for that area.

 @9M3K57C from New Jersey  answered…1yr1Y

yes, but if they are going to raise everything else with the raise then they should not raise anything

 @9FTNDZG from New Jersey  answered…2yrs2Y

yes, but make it the lowest common denominator. What is a living wage in Mississippi for example? The lowest min wage should be on par with that. If NYC decides to pay that wage, places won't get workers, and workers can't live there. The market will have it raise itself.

 @99WXYNG from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

No it should be by state based on the cost of living in the specific area

 @93VGPNGIndependent from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but make it adjusted to cost of living.. for example, metro NYC/NJ/CT/CA, etc. areas should be paid a larger minimum wage, due to cost of living in those areas and outrageous taxes/property taxes

 @93H3VWZPeace and Freedom from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, raise to $16.85 an hour with an exemption if a company can’t afford it

 @9397SW5 from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

Only for Corporations that are mega. Not small businesses. They have been through enough

 @928KT9C from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

The minimum wage should be raised from 7.25 dollars to around 12.00 dollars. Most minimum wage jobs are to get experience and this is true, but they shouldn't be paid so little as some people need the money for something like tuition, student loans, etc.

 @927FW4X from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

It has not been raised to cover cost of living. It has been raised to tax more .The labor is not making more.

 @8ZV2ZCW from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8ZCKGRR from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, raise it to $16.85 an hour with the undoable exemption for companies that can’t afford it

 @8Z3FMSB from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, raise it to $16.85 an hour, but add an “undoable exemption” to avoid losing jobs

 @8YXPLZ6Green from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8YGJ23C from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, it needs to be $15 an hour in addition to a UBI, Universal Health Care, and all kinds of other programs

 @8YGBZWM from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8Y5BQZKPeace and Freedom from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, make it a living wage for all companies that can afford it, for very small businesses that really can’t pay a living wage they should pay what they can afford.

Yes, but shouldn't make the payment fee too high, or employers will lose workers.

if your working in the same job for twenty years i think every 5 years you should get a raise

 @8W2RWJN from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we should keep it as is but allow for negotiation for below that if both potential employee and employer agree.

 @8TDMH4R from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TC56LN from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, increase it accordingly to the geographical cost of living in that given area

 @8ST7Q4MIndependent from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8RYGDG3 from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

It should go based off the job and work ethic that comes with the job, for ex. construction workers vs Starbucks employees

No, most minimum wage jobs are meant to develop experience, not support a family and we should make it $0.01 an hour. You don't have to choose a job that pays you that.

 @8RGTTJWRepublican from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but do so in small increments so as not to over burden small businesses.

 @8QZ7BQP from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

It should only be rasied a little, not to 15 dollars as they are proposing.

 @8PKCJWB from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

Not at the moment. The country is 30 trillion dollars in debt because of a pandemic that has plunged our country into the biggest recession since the Great Depression. In more simple times, I would likely say yes but not in this current moment.

 @8PG4FLY from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

Raise minimum wage while simultaneously taxing automation to avoid job loss.

 @8NP9376 from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

No, because some small businesses can not afford to pay employees that high of a rate.

 @8N8RPX3Republican from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

No. Minimum wage should vary based on US regions. Additionally, when minimum wage is raised, so should wages and salaries for other working Americans who paid to get educated so they could earn a higher salary. It is not fair for someone with zero education to make almost the same as someone who took that extra step, and paid for it.

 @8MHCFGT from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

The minimum wage should be adjusted by state depending on the economic standing of that state

Minimum wage should be adjusted by age group and job experience. Wage should be based on merit. Most civilians have to hold 3 jobs solely to support one person, their travel, their housing, and their food- most of these civilians can not support a family. At least lower income tax or provide a higher tax return for the people holding more than one job.

 @98YZ24Q from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9849F8DRepublican from New Jersey  answered…3yrs3Y

No, minimum wage should be appropriately determined based on state and regional differences. Every state should be able to set their own minimum wage.

 @8XYCRMQ from New Jersey  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8N9YPN7 from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

No, because the manager would run out of money quicker and then you will go out of business.

 @8KP75SRIndependent from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

A federally mandated minimum wage makes no economic sense given the wide disparity of the cost of living from state to state

 @8H5HC8L from New Jersey  answered…5yrs5Y

No, state and local governments should have control over minimum wage because costs of living differ.
