people work 40 hours a week just to get less than 500 dollars on their pay check and then they have to pay bills and when they are done with bills they only have less than 50 dollars for themselves
@9FGZNJW2yrs2Y
Then work more than 40 hours: work a part-time job, find a way to earn passive income, if you feel you are being under-paid then apply for a job or position with better pay or ask for a raise. No one is going to just give things to you. This isn't a charity. Just about everyone has worked a minimum wage job at some point in their life, those of us who got sick of it used it as a stepping stone (which it should be viewed as) and those who were complacent decided to stick around, not developed skills, not seek better opportunities. Life is all about decisions, sure there is luck as well, but you make the most of the cards you've been dealt. Read Man's Search for Meaning if you think you have it rough.

Since prices, like gas and grocery stores are going up in prices. People who are working , minimum wage should be getting payed more so they can afford food, gas and pay their bills.

$7.25 an hour is hardly enough to live off of by yourself, let alone with a pet, and god forbid an entire family, and working several jobs that hardly pay you can and most likely will make the average person absolutely miserable.

Stuffs getting more expensive so people need more money so it has to be raised or we as a people will fall

Minimun wage is important because it helps ensure that workers recive fair pay for their hard work. It helps reduce income inequality and provides a basic standared or living for workers. It also stimulates consumer spending, which can boost the economy.

For a specific example, at the job i work at which is minimum wage, many of my coworkers either didn't get an education or had a child early and were unable to go to college.

In 2022, 78.7 million workers age 16 and older in the United States were paid at hourly rates, representing 55.6 percent of all wage and salary workers. Among those paid by the hour, 141,000 workers earned exactly the prevailing federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour. (https://www.bls.gov/opub/reports/minimum-wage/2022)
The Ohio State University's National Student Financial Wellness Study found that 72 percent of college students experience financial stress stemming from the fear of being unable to meet tuition costs (60 percent) and meet monthly expenses (50 percent). (igradfinancialwellness.com)

I believe many families are able to support their families with minimum wage jobs, but they have to choose to cut out all of
@9FWLPNQ2yrs2Y
No national policy can provide a prescriptive solution for wages for all jobs. Rural and other local situations cannot sustain a wage hike. Local governments should raise minimum wage as appropriate.
@B29CWFMRepublican4mos4MO
Because the standards of living is higher than that of the federal minimum wage, people are not able to live off of a single job, and hence must work double or even triple to support themselves or their family, so by increasing it would greatly help those people that struggle.
@9LTPZ2SRepublican1yr1Y
Minimum wage needs to be enough that someone working 40 hours a week at that wage can afford housing, transportation, food and health care without needing government assistance. Wages lower than that threshold essentially promote government subsidization of employers
@9LXPB76Republican1yr1Y
Everything is getting more expensive, and you are already getting taxed on your wage so it should increase. People will become poor and won't be able to live.
@9M25N8GRepublican1yr1Y
I believe the government needs to raise the minimum wage because the prices of everything is raising and you cannot survive off of $7.25 an hour in this day in age.
@9KPQXZ4 1yr1Y
If inflation continues to raise over time, but jobs are still paying the same amount, it gives workers a disadvantage in their living expenses. People can not decide how the government gets into debt or creates more money to increase inflation. So, jobs should be required to increase pay if prices are going up on everything around.
@9GVBTBTRepublican1yr1Y
The poverty rate has risen 57%over the past couple of year due to lack of money and jobs and if we can give them this much money to help we should
@9FPY5STRepublican2yrs2Y
increasing minimum wage can stimulate consumer spending and boost the overall economy by putting more money in the hands of low-wage workers.
@9LTMRTYRepublican1yr1Y
Most people get jobs to help support a family, so i think that changes are needed to help incomes keep pace with increasing costs of living
@9GT57K5Republican1yr1Y
With my experience of working a minimum wage job with low hour opportunities having a higher minimum wage would help support a family and basic needs of life compared to what we are given now.
@9GXKWZ7Republican1yr1Y
well if minimum wage jobs are only used to develop experience then how are most people going to provide stuff for their families.
@9FVXVMMRepublican2yrs2Y
If you raise minimum wage then there will be less people working and places would lose business because people would get paid sitting on the couch and doing nothing but still getting paid.
@9GHDBX8Republican2yrs2Y
There was been inflammation in everything something that used to cost like 5 dollars has been raised to like 8 or 10.
@9GJGXNZRepublican2yrs2Y
If we create a minimum wage it wouldn't be fair to those who live in California who would need to pay more taxes rather than someone who makes the same amount but lives somewhere that costs less in taxes
@9GG6BXCRepublican2yrs2Y
Many businesses don't have as much money after the pandemic which leads to lower wages for employees.
