A federal judge has blocked the Trump administration's attempt to dismantle the Education Department, criticizing it as an overreach of executive power.
In a separate move, the administration has barred Harvard University from enrolling new foreign students, forcing thousands to transfer and escalating tensions with the Ivy League institution. These actions are part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to reshape federal education policy and immigration rules. The legal and political battles highlight deep divisions over the role of federal oversight in education and the treatment of international students.
The developments have sparked widespread concern among educators, students, and lawmakers.

It's about time the courts stepped in—Trump's attacks on education and international students are not just cruel, they undermine the diversity and innovation our schools need to thrive.

The Trump admin is constantly attempting to seize power that the executive doesn't hold. Pushback from the judiciary is important.

Honestly, this is just another example of the Trump administration trying to undermine vital institutions and push an anti-immigrant agenda. Blocking foreign students from coming to Harvard not only hurts those individuals, but also damages America’s reputation as a leader in education and innovation. I’m glad the courts are stepping in to check this executive overreach—it’s exactly why we have a system of checks and balances. Education should be about inclusion and opportunity, not political games. We need policies that support students and strengthen, not weaken, our public institutions.

@B5NC8ZW11mos11MO
my opinion is that trump would help every country in the united states.

Children are our future. This is not the time nor place to be cutting funding or wasting time further destroying our already broken Education Department.
First off, I believe education should be for everyone since it’s very important. Secondly, foreigners should be treated the same as Americans. We are literally the same as foreigners: we are human. Just because someone is from another country doesn’t mean they get less opportunities than others.
@B5N9SMH11mos11MO
I believe it is damaging academic liberty and it is hurting the United State's worldwide education standing.
@B5N496511mos11MO
Its good because they are using tax payer dollars
@B5N3VZT11mos11MO
I think this is incredibly wrong, and foreign students should not experience setbacks in their education.
@93L698J 11mos11MO
In my opinion, Trump is attempting to adversely interfere with the goings-on of human capital—detrimental to progress.
@B5MZDQ411mos11MO
Why does foreign students going to school matter to him?
@B5MYGGQ11mos11MO
If any other president did this republicans would call them out in mass. However because Trump basically has a cult following him he can do wrong. This will come to a boiling point and something straight up crazy will happen.
@B5LJQGB12mos12MO
Even the idea of deporting illegal migrants without due process.
It’s honestly outrageous how the Trump administration keeps trying to use executive power to undermine public education and scapegoat international students. Education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of where you’re from, and targeting foreign students just stokes division and hurts our universities. I’m glad the courts are stepping in, but we need real systemic change that puts people over profits and values education as a public good.
