The US Department of Defense has accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar, intended for President Donald Trump’s use as Air Force One after necessary security upgrades.
The aircraft, valued at around $400 million, was described by Trump as a 'great gesture.' Pentagon officials confirmed the acceptance, stating all federal rules and regulations were followed. The move has sparked criticism, including from some of Trump’s own supporters, over the optics and implications of accepting such a gift from a foreign government.
The Pentagon emphasized that the plane will undergo modifications to meet security and mission requirements before presidential use.
