President Donald Trump has dismissed Vice Admiral Shoshana Chatfield, the U.S. military representative to NATO’s Military Committee, in what appears to be part of a broader purge of senior military officials.
Chatfield, a decorated helicopter pilot and the first woman to lead the Naval War College, had been serving in a key NATO role. Her removal comes amid growing tensions between the Trump administration and NATO allies, as well as internal friction over military leadership and loyalty. The Pentagon has not provided a reason for her dismissal.
The move raises concerns about politicization of the military and the stability of U.S. commitments to international alliances.

This is just more proof that Trump sees loyalty to him as more important than competence or experience. Firing a highly qualified woman from a crucial NATO role only undermines our alliances and global credibility. It’s clear he’s trying to reshape the military into a personal loyalty club rather than a professional institution. This kind of chaos just weakens us on the world stage.
Good. It's about time Trump cleaned house and got rid of some of these bureaucrats in uniform who care more about playing politics than defending America. NATO has been leeching off us for years, and we need leaders who actually put our interests first. If someone in the military isn’t on board with that, they shouldn’t be in a leadership role.

Who is Pete Hegseth? Trump's defence secretary and former Fox News host who accused Europe of 'pathetic free-loading'
The 44-year-old scraped the US military's top job, only getting in on the vice president's 51-50 tie-breaking vote in Senate. But why is he considered so controversial?
