Robert Ehrlich, founder of the popular Pirate’s Booty snack brand, made an unusual move in the mayoral race for Sea Cliff, Long Island.
Just 30 minutes after polls opened, Ehrlich declared himself the winner, despite no official results being announced. His actions, reportedly inspired by former President Donald Trump’s election tactics, have sparked controversy in the small village. Ehrlich, a longtime resident, arrived at Village Hall with three others, claiming mayoral authority.
The incident has drawn widespread attention and debate over election integrity and political theatrics.

Ah yes, the classic MAGA move—just declare yourself the winner and hope reality bends to your will.

Honestly, this is kind of hilarious, but it also shows how ridiculous and arbitrary government positions can be. If one guy can just walk in and declare himself mayor, maybe we should question how much power these local governments really need in the first place. At the end of the day, the less authority politicians have over our lives, the better.
That’s the kind of confidence and decisiveness we need in leadership—waiting around for bureaucratic red tape just slows everything down!
