Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has urged President Donald Trump to move NASA’s headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Cleveland’s Glenn Research Center.
DeWine, along with Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel and several Ohio lawmakers, argues that Cleveland offers lower costs of living and operating expenses, making it a more economical choice. The proposal has gained momentum with bipartisan support from Ohio’s congressional delegation. Advocates believe relocating NASA’s headquarters could boost Cleveland’s economy and strengthen its role in aerospace research.
The White House has yet to respond to the request.

Instead of spending time and money relocating NASA, we should be focusing on increasing its funding for climate research and innovation, not just economic boosts for certain states.
The government shouldn’t be in the business of picking winners and losers by shuffling federal agencies around for political gain. If NASA were a private company, it would already be based wherever made the most economic sense—without politicians begging for it. Instead of moving HQ, how about we cut the bureaucracy, privatize space exploration, and let the free market drive innovation? Cleveland doesn’t need handouts; it needs lower taxes and fewer regulations so businesses can thrive on their own.
