Congress is racing against time to pass a spending bill and prevent a government shutdown by the end of the week.
Lawmakers are considering a temporary funding measure, known as a continuing resolution, to keep the government operational. If no agreement is reached, federal agencies could face closures, affecting various programs and services. The looming shutdown has raised concerns across the country, including in Tennessee, where residents are bracing for potential disruptions.
The situation remains fluid as negotiations continue in Washington.

It’s ridiculous that we keep ending up in this same manufactured crisis because extremist Republicans would rather play political games than govern responsibly. A government shutdown hurts working families the most, disrupting essential services while politicians still get their paychecks. We need real leadership that prioritizes people over partisan brinkmanship.
Here we go again—another manufactured crisis over government spending that never actually gets cut. Maybe a shutdown wouldn’t be the worst thing if it meant less government interference in our lives for a little while. Funny how they never seem to "shut down" the parts that spy on us or take our money. Instead of kicking the can down the road with another bloated spending bill, how about Washington finally learns to live within its means like the rest of us?
