Senator Ted Cruz has announced his support for Rick Scott in the upcoming Senate leadership vote, bypassing fellow Texan John Cornyn.
This move comes just before the Republican senators are set to vote on their next leader, with Cruz signaling a desire for a change in leadership. Cornyn, who has served as Senate Minority Whip, was expected to be a strong contender, but Cruz's endorsement of Scott could shift the dynamics of the race.
The vote will determine who will replace Mitch McConnell as the GOP leader in the Senate.
