Former US president Donald Trump has told Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he wants Israel to wrap up the war in Gaza by the time he returns to office if he wins the election, two sources familiar with the matter revealed to The Times of Israel this week.T
he message was first conveyed when the Republican presidential nominee hosted the Israeli premier at his Florida Mar-a-Lago resort in July, according to a former Trump administration official and an Israeli official.While Trump has publicly confirmed having told Netanyahu that he wants Israel to win the war quickly, the sources speaking to The Times of Israel are the first to reveal that a timeline was attached to that request.
The former US official stressed that Trump wasn’t specific in his appeal to Netanyahu and could well back “residual” IDF activity in Gaza, so long as Jerusalem has officially ended the war.Netanyahu has long stressed that Israel will maintain overriding security control of Gaza for the foreseeable future after the war, and other Israeli officials have spoken about the IDF maintaining a buffer zone inside the Strip while regularly re-entering areas throughout the enclave when it detects Hamas trying to regroup.
But the prime minister indicated on Monday that Israel is not yet at the conflict wrap-up stage, telling Likud MKs in a quickly leaked recording from a faction meeting that he cannot agree to Hamas’s demand to end the war in exchange for the 101 hostages it still holds.
Trump in recent weeks has indicated that he’d give Israel freer reign to make decisions, slamming US President Joe Biden for trying to restrict the potential targets of Jerusalem’s retaliation to Iran’s October 1 ballistic missile attack.
The former US official clarified that the pre-inauguration day victory that Trump wants Israel to secure in Gaza also includes the return of the hostages.Trump, himself, warned at the Republican National Convention in July that those holding American hostages abroad will “pay a very big price” if they aren’t released before he assumes office.
The Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

Why doesn’t Trump put this in ads in Michigan and Georgia? If he did, he would win the election. I know Miriam Adelson has a lot of money, but not so much money that she can keep him out of jail.
Evangelicals would be really mad, ig, which is something to consider
He keeps hammering the evangelicals though, gay marriage, abortion, transgender toddlers as long as the parents consent. His biggest issue is them, and conservative Catholics, just not showing up.
@MAGA_Deplorable1yr1Y
Any evangelical or Catholic who does not get off his butt and vote for Trump is a loser. No one cares about your personal feelings about Trump or his personality. The other candidate supports the mass-murder of unborn children and the mutilation of third-grade schoolchildren. That should be enough to make your choice clear
I think his political strength here is he can frame whatever he does as good for Israel too and he has credibility to do that since evangelicals and right-wing Jews like him. Kamala is the one who will overcompensate to the right
They’re going to defect and vote for the party that believes in transgender toddlers? Trump loses nothing pivoting left imo
I'd say it would do the opposite. It's clear Trump and Bibi are playing games with people's lives. They are little more than political pawns, and this illustrates that very well.
Why in God's name do you think the guy who let lsrael move their capital and said to lsrael to "finish the job" would be anything other than allowing lsrael to just turn Gaza into dust in the next 3 months after the election?
Went a bit unnoticed. but Vance yesterday, put a bit of distance between the U.S. and Israel
“Israel has the right to defend itself, but America's interest is sometimes going to be distinct. Sometimes we're going to have overlapping interests, and sometimes we're going to have distinct interests. And our interest, I think, very much is in not going to war with Iran.”
JD Vance emphasized that the interests of the US and Israel converge only *sometimes*, but far from always. When those interests *diverge* - such as a war with Iran - the US must do what is in its interests, not in Israel's.
This should be so basic. Would Kamala say this?
Not going to war with Iran to appease Israel
Two weeks ago the US gave Israel 30 days to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Matt Miller, State spokesperson, says today, “It is still roughly the same…The situation still remains at a level we find acceptable…We have not seen sufficient improvement since the secretary sent that letter."
The purpose of this seems the same as Germany asking Israel for guarantees that they won't use their weapons for war crimes. Just shuffling papers around in order to do nothing.

I should d@mn well hope the situation is unacceptable. You can't starve people to death. Now how about you actually do something about it b***.
No issue here. Finish these bastards fast and quick & get all the hostages & never let that satanic hamas to come back. So Trump is correct but at the same time Netanyahu is also correct to destroy the devil hamas to the root. What’s the issue? I dun see any
@BitternEmmaDemocrat1yr1Y
Pure bunk. Literally nobody believes Trump communicated this or would pressure Netanyahu to end the war.
More likely he was using these illegal conversations to encourage Netanyahu to escalate and broaden the attacks..
I **** ING CALLED IT! Kind of. Trump has sounded better on Gaza for months. Saying Netanyahu needs to “end this war.” Calling the war “unacceptable.” The war is bad for US interests, and Trump isn’t weak af. Counterintuitive, but yea. He seems better.
Congrats Pro-Palestinian single issue voters: you played yourself!
@Renaldo-MoonGreen 1yr1Y
This has an ominous feeling to it. Hamas can't release the hostages, Israel refuses to take them back or takes them and shoots them.
Wait I thought Trump would let Israel do what it needs to do to finish off Hamas and Hezbollah? But now we see he really wants it over before he comes into office…sounds just like Biden…
