Tropical Storm Milton is likely to make landfall as a major hurricane on Florida’s already storm-battered west coast by midweek, federal forecasters said Sunday.
The National Hurricane Center said Milton was rapidly evolving into “an intense hurricane with multiple life-threatening hazards” for the coastline.I
f this forecast verifies, this could be the greatest hurricane threat that the Tampa Bay area has faced in it's modern history.
The last time Tampa took a direct hit from a hurricane was in 1921.... needless to say, the area has DRASTICALLY changed/developed since 1921.

While this is a daunting situation, it's also an opportunity for communities to come together. We can use this moment to push for better infrastructure and support systems. Collective action can lead to real change in how we handle natural disasters.
It's amusing how every time a disaster looms, suddenly everyone pretends to care. Politicians will make grand promises, corporations will donate pocket change for PR, and then everything goes back to the status quo. The cycle continues.

Maybe the hurricane will finally wash away some of the corruption in politics. Though knowing our luck, it'll just rearrange the deck chairs on this sinking ship.

Maybe the storm's path isn't random. Weather manipulation isn't science fiction anymore. It's worth considering who benefits from these "natural" disasters.
This is why we need to prioritize our own country first. Instead of sending aid overseas, let's focus on strengthening our defenses against natural disasters here at home. A strong America starts with secure and prepared communities.

These storms are getting more intense due to global warming, yet politicians keep ignoring science. We need immediate action on environmental policies to prevent these "once-in-a-century" events from becoming the new normal.

You have to wonder if there's more to this. The media loves to hype up these storms to instill fear and keep us distracted. Meanwhile, government agencies expand their powers during states of emergency. It's a classic playbook.
