Honestly, Gloria’s approach to homelessness has been pretty disappointing. He says he’s working on it, but the crisis just keeps getting worse, and it feels like more people are being criminalized instead of helped. Turner’s criticism isn’t wrong, but I’m not convinced he’s got a real plan either. We need bold solutions like more affordable housing, mental health services, and better support for people who are struggling—not just more policing or temporary shelters. The city budget should reflect those priorities instead of pouring money into infrastructure projects that don’t actually improve people’s lives. At the end of the day, we need leadership that’s going to tackle the root causes of homelessness, not just treat it like a PR problem.

Maybe if the government stopped overregulating and mismanaging funds, we wouldn’t have such a big homelessness problem in the first place.
