Lebanon has long been called an ally by the United States. Now, Netanyahu’s Biden bombs are being used to destroy thousands of innocent civilians, including children, and civilian infrastructure in Lebanon. And what is Biden’s response to his treachery? To have his White House spokesman and UN Ambassador now declare that the U.S. is “fully, fully, fully supportive of Israel.” Biden keeps expanding his performance as a war criminal, funded by coerced U.S. taxpayers and permitted by breaking six federal laws conditioning weapon shipment exports to foreign countries.

Lebanon has been a breeding ground for Hezbollah, a known terrorist organization backed by Iran. Biden’s support for Israel is a strategic necessity to curb Iranian influence and ensure regional stability. The humanitarian impact is tragic, but we can’t ignore the broader geopolitical stakes.

I’m disturbed by the cold pragmatism in some of these arguments. International law exists for a reason, and the protection of civilians during conflict is not optional. The U.S. can’t just brush aside international humanitarian law in the name of strategic alliances. The fact that Israel may be facing legitimate security threats does not justify indiscriminate bombings or collective punishment of the Lebanese people. U.S. foreign policy needs to reflect a commitment to international law, not undermine it.

Biden’s support for Israel is part of a larger strategy to maintain U.S. influence in the Middle East. The region is deeply divided along sectarian lines, and without strong U.S. support for Israel, Iran’s influence could grow unchecked. We can’t afford to have another failed state in Lebanon falling under Iranian control.

Strategic necessity? We’re talking about the bombing of innocent civilians, including children! This isn’t about maintaining stability—it’s about violating basic human rights. The U.S. cannot continue to support Israel unconditionally while they bomb civilian infrastructure and kill non-combatants. It’s a moral failure on the part of U.S. foreign policy. How can the United States claim to stand for democracy and human rights when it’s complicit in these war crimes? Biden is letting the U.S. be seen as a war criminal on the global stage.

Lebanon has an army, but also a long list of excuses for allowing Hezbollah to exist past UN res 1701. They never really got their act together after 1990. They are still reaping the consequences of poor leadership. No one wants kids to die in Lebanon or in Israel - yet here we are. War is terrible - which is why borders matter. Countries that cannot protect their own borders and exterminate bad actors within will always be unsafe regardless of who's pulling the trigger.

Ah yes, Lebanon should’ve just “exterminated the bad actors” like it's as simple as calling pest control for Hezbollah. The fact that this region is a patchwork of foreign meddling, proxy wars, and failed diplomacy? Totally irrelevant. Meanwhile, our own government is out here signing blank checks to Israel and Ukraine like it’s Black Friday at the arms bazaar, while pretending to care about peace.

Republicans were all “skeptical” about getting involved in Ukraine, right? But then they turned around and approved the largest-ever package of Ukraine fundi…  Read more

There are also serious legal concerns here. The Arms Export Control Act and the Leahy Laws clearly restrict U.S. arms exports to foreign countries if they’re being used to target civilians. By continuing to supply weapons to Israel without addressing these violations, the Biden administration is in direct violation of U.S. law. Congress should be holding the administration accountable for breaking federal law and failing to protect civilian lives.

So, 690 children injured in Lebanon, and the political class in Washington will just send out another round of "thoughts and prayers" before approving the next defense budget. We’re funding Israel, pretending to care about diplomacy, but making sure that the weapons keep flowing. Classic American strategy—talk peace, deliver bombs.

It’s remarkable, isn’t it? We’re stuck in the same cycle of moral outrage followed by zero meaningful action. But sure, let’s ignore this and keep having debates about whether humans can create hurricanes, while climate change burns the planet down. Meanwhile, nobody wants to talk about the elephant in the room—our deep, inescapable involvement in this mess.

 @GoofySausage from Texas  agreed…2yrs2Y

Right? We’ll give billions to Israel and Saudi Arabia, then wonder why we’re neck-deep in conflicts. You’ve got Republicans who act like they’re skeptical of endless wars but approved the largest Ukraine funding package ever. And don’t get me started on the Democrats—they’re over there pretending Bernie, **** Cheney, and Taylor Swift could form a functional government. “Let’s strum the guitar while the world burns!”

 @LoyalB4llotBoxfrom Pennsylvania  agreed…2yrs2Y

Yeah, and it’s all about framing, isn’t it? Israel gets to control the narrative by blocking journalists in Gaza, but in Lebanon or Iran, it’s a free-for-all. So, media coverage is skewed, and everyone in the West just sees what fits the convenient narrative. The lack of honest reporting means there’s zero pressure on our governments to change course.

 @GoofySausage from Texas  agreed…2yrs2Y

don't you love the irony of the so-called “anti-woke” crowd? They turn around and push this idea that any criticism of Israel is pure antisemitism, as if there’s no valid critique to be made about their military actions. It’s like “Let’s just shut down any debate by invoking the victim card.

 @HumbleR3ferendumTranshumanist from Pennsylvania  commented…2yrs2Y

This is the world we live in—where children’s lives are treated like they’re disposable. Nearly 900 children injured, and for what? It’s sickening.

 @MurkyLizardWorking Family from Illinois  agreed…2yrs2Y

The fact that this isn’t headline news every single day just shows how desensitized we’ve become to this level of horror. It’s time to wake up and demand an end to this senseless violence!

 @RelishHalUnity from Mississippi  commented…2yrs2Y

Every single leader that has the power to stop this and does nothing should be held accountable for the trauma these children are going through. It’s time for the world to stop with the empty promises and take real action!

 @GiddyFreeTradeDemocratfrom California  commented…2yrs2Y

These numbers are heart-wrenching, but it’s the stories behind them that are even worse. These children are being scarred for life, both physically and mentally, and what’s being done about it?

 @AloofLionGreenfrom Missouri  commented…2yrs2Y

This is a complete failure of humanity. It’s appalling that we sit back and let children suffer like this! They have no part in these conflicts, yet they are the ones being killed, scarred, and traumatized for life.

 @RenaldoMoon from Pennsylvania  commented…2yrs2Y

The fact that we are continuing to support and even considering getting involved in this genocidal conflict really shows how far we've fallen as a country.

 @78LFWD6Peace and Freedom from Nebraska  commented…2yrs2Y

How is it possible that in 2024, we still live in a world where children are being maimed and traumatized like this? Where are the world leaders, the governments, the people who are supposed to protect these innocent lives? It’s outrageous that we let this happen over and over again, as if these kids are just collateral damage in someone else’s war. Every child’s life is sacred, and it’s beyond cruel that they’re paying the price for the failures of adults!
