House Speaker Mike Johnson on Thursday pushed back against FBI Director Christopher Wray’s testimony before the House Judiciary Committee that former President Donald Trump may not have been hit directly with a bullet during the attempt on his life at a rally in Pennsylvania.
Wray, whom Trump nominated to head the FBI in 2017, testified Wednesday about his agency’s investigation into the assassination attempt, and said, “I think with respect to former President Trump there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that, you know, hit his ear.” He said the investigation into the shooting, which is being led by the FBI, is “very much ongoing.”Johnson said he didn’t find Wray’s testimony credible.
“We’ve all seen the video, we’ve seen the analysis, we’ve heard it from multiple sources in different angles that a bullet went through his ear. I’m not sure it matters that much,” Johnson said.
He also said Wray “was not forthcoming with some of the information that we would expect.

To be clear, I agree the press failed here, but politically, this issue lost importance when Biden withdrew and that’s why they’re steaming mad.
for me it's a press issue as much as anything. they recrafted most of their campaign around him "taking a bullet" and now they're mad when it becomes clear that at best no one knows what actually happened. But you're certainly right that what they're most pissed about is having shot their bolt on a campaign that now no longer exists
Trump just released another Ronny Jackson letter in which Jackson says Trump was absolutely hit by a bullet and Congress should remove Wrays testimony. (Remember that Jackson is a disgraced Dr Feelgood without a license who was demoted by the navy for misbehavior after he retired to become a full time Trumper.)
Kinda interesting how things can happen directly to someone and they can genuinely believe it happened a certain way and become invested in it, but they in fact have no basis for knowing what actually happened. How tf would Trump himself know if he was hit by a bullet or glass?
