Depends on whether the person actually believed the other person was similar to a historical evil figure or if the statement was rhetorical nonsense to begin with.

It's disheartening to see J.D. Vance's complete 180 from a Trump critic to his running mate; it really makes you question the authenticity of political convictions these days. This just seems like another example of how political ambitions can completely flip someone's moral compass.

It is quite a claim from a man who once himself likened Trump to history’s most notorious authoritarian fascist. The difference between Joe Biden and J.D. Vance is that, when Biden labeled Trump a semi-fascist, he meant it as an insult.
