‘After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the Great State of Ohio.
J.D. honorably served our Country in the Marine Corps, graduated from Ohio State University in two years, Summa Cum Laude, and is a Yale Law School Graduate, where he was Editor of The Yale Law Journal, and President of the Yale Law Veterans Association. J.D.’s book, “Hillbilly Elegy,” became a Major Best Seller and Movie, as it championed the hardworking men and women of our Country.
J.D. has had a very successful business career in Technology and Finance, and now, during the Campaign, will be strongly focused on the people he fought so brilliantly for, the American Workers and Farmers in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and far beyond….’

JD Vance was the best pick in any world outside of fantasyland where Tucker Carlson is even remotely interested or compatible.
We live in the real world, folks, not Candyland.
Tucker Carlson would have been great, and so would Vivek Ramaswamy, Rand Paul, or Thomas Massie. That said, I prefer J.D. Vance over all the other people he was considering.
@WorriedWeasel2yrs2Y
Those upset by the J.D. pick:
– Unreformed neoliberals
– Proponents of moralistic interventionism
– Stodgy Boomers
Those happy with the J.D. pick:
– Every conservative under the age of 45
– Nationalists, NatCons
– Realists, Jacksonians
I'm taking that as a huge win.

My problem with Vance is that he isn't free market enough. I am glad he doesn't support Ukraine, I'm glad he's a social conservative, but for Heaven's sake why are you so naive on trade? Tariffs raise prices for Americans. The way to stop the outsourcing isn't to INCREASE taxes on Chine, but to DECREASE taxes here, so there's no incentive for businesses to move to China. That's how you solve the problem. It's not rocket science.
I thought the Tucker Carlson and Candace suggestions were extremely out in left field tbh. Although I'm a Vivek suggestor, I may not be realistic either.

I like JD's record in the Senate:
6/2/2023:
"Senator JD Vance brokered a bipartisan deal to restrict bank mega-mergers and bank CEO compensation after a bank fails."
3/21/2024:
"Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D., R.I.) and J.D. Vance (R., Ohio) want to eliminate companies’ ability to do tax-free mergers like the pending Capital One-Discover deal. Under their bill, shareholders who receive stock through such deals would owe capital-gains taxes immediately, instead of deferring those taxes until they sell their shares. The senators introduced the legislation on Thursday; it has exceptions for companies with annual revenue below $500 million."

That was a good clip you posted. I’m a little relieved.
@Vot3rVo1ceDingoForward2yrs2Y
New: Fox News’s Sean Hannity will present the first interview with J.D. Vance tonight at 9 p.m. ET.
@S0cialistJayNo Labels2yrs2Y
Same time as Biden’s interview with NBC.
Most anti-climactic pick I can remember tbh
@LobbyLynxWorking Family2yrs2Y
thought Paul Ryan was similarly if not more anticlimactic.
Vance also reiterated that he believes “there will be negotiation” and Ukraine should be willing to give up at least some of its territory to end the war, which began in February 2022. “It ends the way nearly every single war has ever ended: when people negotiate and each side gives up something that it doesn’t want to give up,” Vance said. “No one can explain to me how this ends without some territorial concessions relative to the 1991 boundaries,” he added. A day earlier, Vance said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that it was in “America’s best interest … to accept Ukraine is going to have to cede some territory to the Russians.”

Big tech cannot be happy about the Vance pick.
"Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) singled out Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chair Lina Khan as one of the sole Biden administration members “doing a pretty good job,” citing her work on antitrust enforcement, especially as it relates to tech giants.
“A lot of my Republican colleagues look at Lina Khan … and they say, ‘well Lina Khan is sort of engaged in some sort of fundamental evil thing. And I guess I look at Lina Khan as one of the few people in the Biden administration that I think is doing a pretty good job,” Vance said Tuesday at Bloomberg’s “RemedyFest” technology forum. "

more information about JD Vance is needed. I am interested in learning his views and policy stances. Would have preferred someone with a bit more experience, but like that he is young and has served in the military. Definitely better than the VP currently in office.
JD Vance tweeted this after the Trump shooting
‘Today is not just some isolated incident.
The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs.
That rhetoric led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination.’
@WorriedWeasel2yrs2Y
He almost had me, but now, nope. Josh Hawley with whiskers.
@NeedfulLlamaMountain2yrs2Y
Trump just lost votes with that pick.
J.D. Vance, though he has his policy flaws, is an America First Patriot who courageously votes against prolonging the Ukraine War by giving Zelensky aid. We need someone who is more non-interventionist in terms of foreign policy outlook who can break some ties in the Senate.
@Pl4tformBagelsDemocrat2yrs2Y
What wait I'm confused why isn't he using the VP he had during his first administration?
@GleefulR3f0rmRepublican2yrs2Y
Get ready to hear some very dumb takes on OH 2022 and what it means for the electoral implications of the pick.
it def doesn't scream unity. A better pick to help electorally would be Tulsi Gabbard or Glen Youngkin. Trump probably still wins, but he could have a much better shot at winning by picking someone who appeals to a wider audience.
@GleefulR3f0rmRepublican2yrs2Y
Having DeWine appoint JD’s replacement is less than ideal. (Understatement.)
@AbalonePatRepublican2yrs2Y
We have a long way to go but JD Vance on Trumps ticket is the biggest blow to neocon establishment in DC since Trumps election in 2016
And that is a good reason to put a big smile on my face
