Israel has officially accused 100 employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) of being operatives for Hamas, a group it considers a terrorist organization.
The accusations were made in a letter from Israeli Ambassador Amir Weissbrod to the UNRWA, urging the dismissal of these individuals. Israel claims that this number is only 'a fraction' of the actual Hamas members working for the UN agency in Gaza.
This development coincides with a new operation launched by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza City, targeting areas where Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad are believed to be active, including a raid on a UNRWA compound purportedly used by Hamas.
