Imposing a blanket cellphone ban in schools without considering the nuanced ways phones can aid in learning and keep students connected to their families seems like a step backwards, not a thoughtful approach to modern education.

I get where the governor is coming from, wanting to improve focus and cut down on distractions in the classroom. However, outright banning cellphones in public schools seems a bit overreaching. It's important for students to learn responsibility and how to manage distractions on their own, skills they'll definitely need in the real world. Plus, parents might feel more at ease knowing they can reach their kids directly, especially in emergencies. This move feels like it might be solving one problem but creating another by limiting personal freedom and responsibility.
