A U.N. report details scenes at a military hangar inside Sde Teiman, an army base in southern Israel that has become synonymous with the detention of Gazan Palestinians.
Mr.
al-Hamlawi, the senior nurse, said a female officer had ordered two soldiers to lift him up and press his rectum against a metal stick that was fixed to the ground. Mr. al-Hamlawi said the stick penetrated his rectum for roughly five seconds, causing it to bleed and leaving him with “unbearable pain.”
A leaked draft of the UNRWA report detailed an interview that gave a similar account. It cited a 41-year-old detainee who said that interrogators “made me sit on something like a hot metal stick and it felt like fire,” and also said that another detainee “died after they put the electric stick up” his anus.
Mr. al-Hamlawi recalled being forced to sit in a chair wired with electricity. He said he was shocked so often that, after initially urinating uncontrollably, he then stopped urinating for several days. Mr. al-Hamlawi said he, too, had been forced to wear nothing but a diaper, to stop him from soiling the floor.

In other words, the Israeli military has taken thousands of (new) hostages.
In other words when you start a war and you lose it, you pay the price.
The awful thing is that this isn't the worst of it. How about a story on the hundreds of CHILDREN that the IDF and Israeli police imprison each year without charge and have done for decades. This is a matter of record and has been tracked and condemned by UN, Unicef and human rights watch. There are many documented cases of children not having contact with their parents for months, children abused physically and sexually abused in Israeli prisons. How so many Israels fail to see the decades of Palestinian experience in their own fear and grief over hostages is beyond me, and it is damning.
When Hamas burst into Israel, murdered a bunch of civilians and kidnapped hundreds of people, we rightfully call those people “hostages”.
When Israel moves into Gaza, murders a bunch of civilians and kidnaps tens of thousands of people, we call them “detainees” or simply “prisoners”.

Sickening. And our US tax dollars support this.
Disgusting. The United States was fully aware of this and is complicit in every crime that Israel is committing. Any benefit of the doubt, any trust or sympathy that Israel or the US government ever had is gone. No one in the world will trust them ever again.

The veil on Israel’s conduct and disregard for Palestinian humanity and basic dignity has been lifted for the world to see. When they reveal themselves, believe them.

We should’ve never been involved with this conflict to begin with. It’s unfortunate, but we have issues to address in our own country. We should cut aid with Ukraine, Israel, Palestine, etc. It’s psychotic to see so many people in the United States riot over another country’s conflict.
@ISIDEWITH2yrs2Y
How would you feel if someone you knew was subjected to the types of treatment described in the U.N. report?
@9NNJYX22yrs2Y
Although tragic, there shall be no sympathy for terrorists, terrorist organizations, and those who fund them.

This has been going on for awhile. A lot of people who are outraged by our support of Israel have known about these policies of kidnapping and abuse that have been going on for decades. They don't view Palestinians as human.
The frustrating thing is that the only thing Israel has to say is "Hamas" and suddenly everything is justified and questioning it brands you a supporter. It's disgusting.
Looks like torture to me. Reminds me of CIA and Guantanamo.
The USA sets a great example and Israel follows our example.
Yup. If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck and walks like a duck... This is a perfect example and as an American I am
ashamed that the US supports what Israel is doing here.
@E1ectionCakeMountain2yrs2Y
They might not have been Hamas supporters when illegally detained, they sure will be when they leave.
@UnityJerrySocialist2yrs2Y
Israel's Abu Ghraib, a deep and lasting stain on its reputation as a civilized nation.
So 4000 hostages tortured and humiliated. Eight times as many as October 6. Roughly 40,000 people murdered, nearly 30 times as many a October 6. More than a million people homeless, living under constant attack.
There's no question who is the terrorist here. No money for genocide. No support for Israel.
