President Biden on Monday urged Qatar’s ruling emir, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, to pressure Hamas to accept the cease-fire proposal Israel offered.
The two leaders spoke on the phone, during which they confirmed that the cease-fire and hostage release deal is on the table and that the next step is Hamas taking it.
The president on Friday announced the terms of an Israel-led proposal that includes a three-part road map to an end to fighting and the release of all remaining hostages, signaling the strongest indication yet of an end to the war since the Oct.
7 attacks.
“The President confirmed Israel’s readiness to move forward with the terms that have now been offered to Hamas,” according to a readout of the call. “He urged Amir Tamim to use all appropriate measures to secure Hamas’ acceptance of the deal and affirmed that Hamas is now the only obstacle to a complete cease-fire and relief for the people of Gaza.”
Israel offered the deal after conversations with the United States and the leaders of Qatar and Egypt, as well as other Middle Eastern countries, Biden said Friday.
The proposal was transmitted to Hamas via Qatar on Thursday.
Biden, on the call on Monday, “emphasized that this is the best possible opportunity for an agreement, and that Hamas’ ongoing refusal to release hostages would only prolong the conflict and deny relief to the people of Gaza,” according to the White House.
He also confirmed that the U.S., Egypt, and Qatar would “would work to ensure the full implementation of the entire agreement.”

Unfortunately, the hardliners in Isreal are not interested in a ceasefire as they want the war to continue until Gaza and its people are totally destroyed. I am disgusted that war criminal Netanyahu is invited to speak to Congress. I applaud Senator Bernie Sanders for boycotting the event.
The USA hits bottom but keeps on digging.
Not only are they allowing person convicted of crimes and under other criminal charges to run for the presidency, but now they are inviting a person under several national and international criminal charges to address Congress.
Amazing stains on the country I once admired.

The "cease-fire" proposals Hamas has rejected would have led to more damage to Gaza in the long run. These proposals by Isreal include temporary cease-fire, all Isreali prisoners held by Hamas being returned (while Isreal keeps their prisoners), the full hand-over of weapons by Hamas. These would all allow Isreal an opportunity to destroy Gaza without worry of harming Isreali citizens or dealing with any defence. Isreal has reject more cease-fire proposals than Hamas has, most of which allowed the full swap of both Hama's prisoners and Isreal prisoners, full and permanent cease-fire, and an opportunity for peace talks between the leaders.
There is no solution in Gaza where Hamas (a terrorist organization) continues to exist in any capacity. Just because they aren’t capable of carrying out terrorist attacks doesn’t mean that it’s all over. We should be pushing for Hamas to surrender completely so the Palestinian suffering can end.
Is this the same proposal that Biden is pushing but Israel wasn't involved in? This is dumb

It seemed surreal for President Biden to announce Israel’s peace proposal rather than Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, especially since Israel is conducting a widely condemned and already bloody attack in Rafah that undermines its credibility. Why did Biden stop at not demand an immediate ceasefire by Israel as a goodwill gesture? And why is Biden still supplying the bombs that killed dozens in what even Netanyahu called a “tragic mistake”when he believes that Hamas is no longer a threat? It all doesn’t add up unless it was political theater to blunt the increasing… Read more

Too late for the 100,000 Palestinian civilians who died or were wounded, and the 2 million who will be traumatized for life, due to Israel’s nonstop indiscriminate bombing campaign and siege.
It won’t happen. ALL SIDES want this war to prolong.

His eyes are open almost all the way... how high was he, or was that just a very uniquely random moment for him?
@L1beralBenSocialist2yrs2Y
Israel: give up all of your leverage and let us divide your land into pieces with fortified settlements just like the West Bank, and we'll stop bombing you for a month and a half!
It hasn’t been a killing of thousands of Palestinians, it’s been the murder of 10s of thousands and continued killing and starvation of countless more. I’m glad Biden suddenly woke up to the fact that brown and black peoples lives matter too (at least when it’s 30,000 plus) but he needs to do a lot more to stop the genocide.
