We should instead of building more housing renovation already existing structures that are currently vacant

 @9WVJ9BZ from Oregon  answered…7mos7MO

There are already more empty housing units than homeless people, so they don’t need to build any more housing.

 @Patrizi007Progressive  from Colorado  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, however it must stipulate that the housing must be build correctly and safely. No cardboard houses.

 @9WM9Y73Socialist from Florida  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, and create government housing. By keeping housing fully in the private sector, costs will continue to rise.

 @9WKVB2L from Louisiana  answered…7mos7MO

There are too many houses and this is destroying the environment, especially the swamps in Louisiana.

 @9WF47VH from California  answered…7mos7MO

No, the government should regulate housing including building enough affordable housing for those in need. Waitlists are nearly a decade long as is.

 @9WCRRS6 from Iowa  answered…7mos7MO

No, there is plenty of housing but it is being exploited by landlords who sit on hundreds of overpriced properties.

 @9TWXJTTSocialist from New York  answered…8mos8MO

Government should explore and incentivize the repurposing of buildings not in use to help with housing needs.

 @9TRRGGW from Mississippi  answered…8mos8MO

They should work on first time home buyers getting accepted into their own houses and keep the market affordable

 @9SK2MWT from Florida  answered…9mos9MO

No, they should turn existing infrastructure into housing. Building not in use anymore like hotels, office building ext. To create more housing and also protect the environment from unnecessary construction when other alternatives already exist.

 @XtyklysSocialist from Washington  answered…1mo1MO

Yes. We should cap the cost of housing. Right now, free-market is allowing the cost of housing to skyrocket. This is a burden on the overall economy.

 @9XLJ47R from Illinois  answered…7mos7MO

There are enough homes in most areas. There needs to be more of a push for affordable housing for the homes that we already have.

 @9WXL9B5 from Missouri  answered…7mos7MO

Yes, and make sure all newly constructed houses are up to code and built properly with no cut corners.

 @9VXBBLC from Tennessee  answered…7mos7MO

Every person should be entitled to free housing, change every empty office building, mall, and second home to affordable housing options.

 @9VKCGZJ from Oregon  answered…8mos8MO

We have enough empty houses to not need more development. Ban landlords from hoarding homes and give everyone a home no matter what.

 @9VJ4S8T from Louisiana  answered…8mos8MO

Yes, and the government should try to find ways to use already existing structures to make affordable housing, to save costs, and in the event that is not feasible, then construct additional housing.

 @9VFHGTD from Texas  answered…8mos8MO

Housing should be affordable but not at the cost of safety/quality, so only if they can do so without compromising the builds.

 @9SXC25L from Ohio  answered…9mos9MO

I think there's a lot of housing in existence already, but often it's too expensive for most people to afford. I think a temporary solution to this, instead of building new housing, would be to work on more efficient ways to distribute what housing already exists, such as by making existing housing more affordable or by offering other incentives to real estate companies to lower prices.

 @9RW9XM4 from California  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but I would prefer if housing construction was handled by the government itself rather than using incentives to compel the private sector

 @8BPDQT2Republican  from Florida  answered…10mos10MO

No, do more to reduce the overall pricing of what is already available and spent more on infrastructure improvements.

 @9H4SFM6  from New York  answered…10mos10MO

Yes, but it would be better to seize housing that is being held vacant due to greed and convert it into public housing.
