No, immigrants should not be required to learn English, but free language courses should be provided to ease their transition into a mostly English-speaking society

 @9S8SQVV from North Carolina  answered…9mos9MO

All immigrants should have government-provided secondary/additional language extensive courses or programs UPON REQUEST (or occupational requirement).

 @9GY2P7X from North Carolina  answered…1yr1Y

no unless they get a job where they have to communicate with English only speakers and the government should provide free language learning courses

 @9GHCJVG from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

Remove all multilingual translations of government documents and services other than English and German, and deport the immigrants.

No, but we need to require all legal documents to have multilingual translations and have free interpreters for those who are illiterate.

 @94HBLJ8 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

It is fine if immigrants don't speak perfect english, but english should be encouraged, and accessible classes should be available while not being free from the government.

Yes, we are a nation built on our english language. Any immigrant who enters this nation should be required to learn it. For they will be handicapped under a language barrier.

 @95NQHD4 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

I mean, it might be hard to live here if you don't speak the same language as everyone else. But that doesn't you should should be forced to learn it against your will.

 @959G5MBDemocrat from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but if they'd like to learn I believe free language courses would do well and even promote those who initially didn't want to learn.

 @94HNMJG from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, though we can provide free language courses if they would like to learn them.

 @92ZBT8G from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but we need to make options available to immigrants so they can learn English

 @8ZR7TVD from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but they should be able to have access to courses that will help them learn English so that way they’ll be able to advance further into society.

 @8ZDMRFJ from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Both yes and no, because we should embrace diversity, but we should also have the immigrants learn English for free.

 @darrintaylor660 from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but we should also place a higher emphasis on teaching other languages as well

 @8XLNGJKCommunist from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but we should still provide some form of free English education for those who are interested

 @8XJNVXQ from North Carolina  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but immigrants need to learn English if they decide to work in the US.

 @8V8XG5XLibertarian from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, make English the official language and one of the requirements for citizenship and immigration

 @8RKQXV6Independent from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

I think it would be beneficial for them to learn english so that it is easier to communicate with others but it shouldn’t be forced upon them

 @8RG5CKZ from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

No, English should not be the majority language and all immigration should be illegal

 @8L7SSRC from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

No, it should only be heavily suggested so they are able to seamlessly integrate into American society, which is predominantly English-speaking, but we should embrace the diversity that immigrants add to our country.

 @8K83576 from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, legal immigrants seeking citizenship should be required to attain some basic level of English proficiency so they are capable of participating thoughtfully in the political process

 @8HTW3KX from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8GFM8HY from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, and we should help them learn as well as we should be learning other languages too

 @8DV4FGGSocialist from North Carolina  answered…5yrs5Y

No, English is not the official language of the united states (there is none)

I do not think they should be required to learn English. However, I believe it should be encouraged and that the government should provide free classes to learn English. Other countries do not require immigrants to learn their language. If America is a free country, that would be unfair. They can learn English of their own free will.

They shouldn't be allowed here because they aren't doing anything good for our country.

 @8X8FZ23 from North Carolina  answered…4yrs4Y

 @97WG697Independent from North Carolina  answered…2yrs2Y

They shouldn't be forced to, but it will be to their benefit to know English along with the other languages they know.
