Assault weapons should be banned. Higher requirements for mental health screenings and background checks should be enacted on purchasing any firearm.

No because then the federal government will have all of the assault rifles and I do not trust the federal government to not use or sell them to other people I do think local police should be demilitarized

 @9FLYDT7 from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

This is a violation of our 2nd amendmandt rights, and mental health and background checks

No. "Assault weapon" is a nebulous classification, and legislating based on vague definitions is problematic. Mandatory buybacks are just confiscation regardless

 @95XBR46Communist from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

We should demilitarize the local/national forces while also retaining our gun rights

 @932XFCK from Texas  answered…3yrs3Y

No. We have no definition of assault weapons. Any weapon used in an attack is an assault weapon.

 @8T2MXW5Independent from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we should protect 2nd amendment rights and improve the socioeconomic conditions of our society so things like a mass shooting don't happen, this includes increasing mental health and background checks as well as providing good jobs and pathways for individuals to realize their abilities.

 @8SYWYVB from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

Start with voluntary assault weapon buyback. Increase mental health and background checks. Assault weapons should not be sold to the public. Regular guns are okay for property protection, self defense, and hunting. A regular public citizen has no business with assault rifles.

 @8QQFHGGDemocrat from Texas  answered…4yrs4Y

No, voluntary buyback and require special licensing (like for collectors) to buy/keep assault weapons.

 @8DRJXC9 from Texas  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but increase mental health and background checks before purchasing

 @9NF7JH9 from Texas  answered…12mos12MO

No, this is a violation of the 2nd amendment

Absolutely not. Sell them to me first

 @9CP6TXH from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No, beside being a blatant violation of the 2nd Amendment, I didn't buy my guns from the government in the first place.

 @9CL3PXM from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

There is no such thing as an "assault weapon." Until a weapon is used to assault someone, it is just a weapon. The government would be VERY odd to intentional purchase used murder weapons instead of allowing them to go to the correct criminal justice investigation department to be held and examined as evidence!

 @868S9JK from Texas  answered…2yrs2Y

No. Implement a voluntary buyback, tougher background checks, and legislation to restrict access to assault weapons.
