No, competition will not exist. It will not adjust to demand and thus either doctors will be underpaid or patients will be overpaying. It might also reduce the incentive to not be reckless, increasing overall costs

No. A single-payer system ensures there is no competition in the market. Competition brings prices down. A single-payer system allows companies to charge whatever they'd like with no competition.

I don't think it would work very well citizens already don't want to pay taxes or give money away and the u.s has more people then most other countries

Yes, but allow people to use private insurance; use a system similar to Social Security, where everyone pays into it and can use it

Yes, but keep the government out of health INSURANCE. The government should provide healthCARE to all its citizens at no cost. And do so by reducing existing budgets, and not by increasing taxes in any way.
