Yes, but make it optional, and make it a flat percentage rate of an individual's monthly income so the middle-class and wealthy people can opt out government health healthcare and apply for private insurance, instead. Make government healthcare free for those on SSI/public assistance.

Incentivize people to be healthy ( eg lose maintain weight/ don’t smoke) and healthcare would take care of itself. Ie... reduce the demand .

Get rid of insurance, make doctors and hospitals charge rates people can afford just like everything else we buy.
