In the U.S. a citizen may give $2,700 per election to a federal candidate, $5,000 per year to a PAC, $10,000 per year to a State or local party committee and $33,400 per year to a national party. Citizens and corporations may give unlimited amounts to a Super PAC. A Super PAC is freed from traditional campaign finance laws as long as it does not fund a candidate or campaign or coordinate directly with a campaign how to spend donations.

Candidates should have the same amount of money for their campaigns regardless of their political party.

no, just as long as we know where the money came from
@8TGJMGW4yrs4Y
Yes, there should be a limit on the amount given straight to a campaign, but because it is a free speech issue that person should be allowed to spend as much as they like personally giving to PACs for the purpose of creating ads and literature.

In every race, NASCAR displays clearly (by size/placement, on each qualified car) who all sponsors of that car are. IT’s transparently obvious. There should be at least that much transparency with candidates seeking legislative office! We should know who their biggest funders are, be they individual, special interest group, or corporation! Why has there always been more transparency in who’s putting big $ behind sports, the Super Bowl, European football clubs, etc, when consequences of legislation affect all of us much more importantly? That’s messed up!
wouldn’t it be affective if all political candidates had to wear their donor’s logos/names, prominently on their attire, shoes, briefcases… even on the doors of their congressional and regional offices?! there should be a law requiring such transparency!

No, any private citizen should be able to donate any amount of money to a political candidate.

I think yes an no; its the donors choice but if there is no say in it all then yes.
@9BZYRFF2yrs2Y
yes but with a reasonable amount
@98XT2ML2yrs2Y
Yes, if it's a donor, they are donating their own money, but they can make their own mistakes.

Yes, politicians should not be bought by wealthy donors and corporations. Citizens United vs. FEC ruling only did harm to our country.
