No, because it is a symbol of racism. It should never be flown for any reason besides education.

 @B34567V from Washington  answered…3mos3MO

The only flags government and public buildings like schools should be allowed to fly, are the states flag, and the American flag, but, because the constitution defends the freedom of speech and expression, private properties and institutions should be allowed to fly the confederate flag.

 @B2XSP6G from Washington  answered…3mos3MO

As long as they are not promoting violence, everything is fine. the history books show that they lost, so it wouldn't matter

 @9QS4LJD from Washington  answered…10mos10MO

Why is this survey asking about the confederate flag and not the gay flag?...that is a more appropriate question under this social topic...PRIDE flag NO!...Confederate YES

 @9N8PGY7 from Washington  answered…12mos12MO

This is America and there is a freedom of speech although I am torn on the confederate flag as they lost.

 @9H4J7RJIndependent from Washington  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, but only at historical monuments, museums and private homes. But the confederate flag may not be flown above the US flag.

 @9FPZVY9 from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, there may be contextual situations where appropriate; the flag is symbol of traitors

 @9FDSMN3Republican from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DKBGBN from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

No, any other flag besides the US Flag and State flag don’t belong on government property.

 @9DBL4QX from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

No, only official government flags should be flown. Private property can do what it wants.

 @8LB57MT from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

Do we fly a British, German, Spanish, or the flag of any country who lost a war due to conflict of interests, ideals or infringement? No. Then No.

 @9668FG7Women’s Equality from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95RM6J6 from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

No, unless it is in a museum. The Confederate flag is a symbol of racism, separatism and treason.

 @95NTV3R from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

yes and no the confederate flag does have many bad things towards it but it is also a piece of history of how America was made to what it is now

 @95B4WYC from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

No, it is a symbol of racism, separatism, and treason and should only be displayed in a Civil War museum

 @959P5SB from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

It should not be represented as a symbol of racism but be a symbol of what it originally stood for. But because people can not do that it's best to take it down rather than have racial issues be associated with its history.

 @9333TQS from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

No, it should be put in a museum and not displayed on any government property.

 @92BSB38 from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

No, states should only be able to fly the American flag and the state flag.

 @8ZT6R5Z from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8ZDJ95DConstitution from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

No, because it is a very polarizing flag that means different things to different people.

 @8YVBRQJ from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

The flag is one of much hate and I feel it should be treated similarly to the swaztika where it is now only used for educational purposes and mainly only seen in museums.

 @8YQLV2PRepublican from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

Let the people of the State determine their own flag through a legal process.

 @8Y8X9K2 from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8WPJY69 from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

No due to the fact it has a dark meaning behind it and no one even uses that flag for the actual reason anymore they turned it into a hate symbol

 @8VCBCKH from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V268NC from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TQWMSJ from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, its freedom of speech, but I totally think the confederate flag is insulting and racist.

 @8TDS9ZG from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8T3B4SCLibertarian from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, but only by former Union states because they won, former Confederate states should definitely not be allowed.

 @8SB8Z9B from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

No, it should not be allowed on government property but yes on private property

 @8Q2HMLRDemocrat from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8PTDZ4P from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

yes, but it is racist and people who display racism are subject to the consequences (such as losing their jobs)

 @8PP55BP from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8NJW2YVLibertarian from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

It is a symbol of treason and any use of it should be a federal offense!!!

 @8LWTF75 from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

No people need to grow up. Just like the 10 commandments should be allowed. There are a lot of things that I think are offensive. Including the use of the "N" word by any one. People who come to the US and want to change it to the country they left. Celebraties telling the rest of us how we should think and live. They're some of the biggest hypocrites of all. OK I could go on but you get the idea.

 @8JZ6FBF from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8H9HDH2 from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but it would be ignorant in the current social climate to do so and should be discouraged

 @8H5VTCX from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, because banning it would be unconstitutional despite the fact that it stands for treason and racism and is garbage.

 @8GHLXBC from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

Yes, but only with posted information regarding the flag's history and meaning

 @8F3T83N from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

 @8DJCHFJ from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

It doesn’t exclusively symbolize racism, but there are racist connotations to it. I think it would be in bad taste to fly it.

 @8D6ZS4N from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

No, it makes no sense for our United States government to fly a flag representing an attempt to dismantle our nation.

 @8CHGY5Y from Washington  answered…5yrs5Y

The state has as much a right to display the flag As I have the right to treat the flag as a symbol of racism and treason

 @9RFF8PK from Washington  answered…10mos10MO

 @9CY7BQ5 from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

No, except in South Carolina (if the people choose), and places where all state flags are flown. Except in context of South Carolina, it constitutes a signal to attack USA

 @9CTXVVQ from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, If it is displayed inside a government museum for educational purpose.

 @9CFZ8ZY from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9BVTC83 from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

i shall stay impartial due to the fact it has been used as a symbol of racism and such but I must not agree nor disagree due to the fact others may feel that they do not get a right to hang their flags for if I deny this the people who want it hung may be bigoted and say I may not put my flags up.

 @9B7ZDXV from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

I don't believe that it should be flown in public, but it still needs to be shown because if we forget history, the we are doomed to repeat it.

 @99DGDGM from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

It's like flying a Nazi flag, sure you can go and do it but it's gonna be looked down on- so the first amendment protects you. But ultimately I wouldnt do that myself its a bad flag..

 @98YHBB9Constitution from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

If buisness can fly a gay pride flag then, other businesses can fly a confederate flag. It's freedom of speech and its a two way street.

 @98TMB4M from Washington  answered…2yrs2Y

No, it should only be allowed to be displayed at private homes, museums related to the American civil war, and at historical monuments in a purely historical manner.

 @97M39TV from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, it should be ok to fly any flag. The only flag that should be banned in the US is the nazi flag.

 @97GN8KH from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, they should be allowed to make the decision to do it if they want to. It is in the local government's hands to handle any backlash if they decide to do so

 @976QY7V from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

If they ban one flag, they have to ban all other flags that are not used in OUR country today .

 @8Y93X28Progressive from Washington  answered…3yrs3Y

yea, as long as it is being used as an educational tool demonstrating the racist history of the U.S.

 @8V5KY7X from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

The confederate flag is a dead flag, flown during the Civil War Era, and should be seen as such. Private citizens have the right to have one, but should be banned for any US governing entity.
